and, the fact that every one of JJ's players are playing at higher levels than last year.

This more so. The revamped roster is really not the change at all, Waters is the only player contributing much among newcomers.

Combs = Gone for season
Kiir = Very few minutes
Alexander = Very few minutes
Rachal = Getting decent minutes but not a key cog
Onwuasor = Finally had a great night at Ark but has been disappointing throughout the season
Edwards = Most contribution among newcomers not named Waters but it's basically a couple 3's a game at best

The biggest difference, again outside of Waters which was HUGE for this team, is Epps, Reath Sampson & Mays all being better players this year than previously.

Next 2 games are at home against Bama & UGA take care of those and LSU is in business. Then you go to Vandy with the awkward layout but talent wise they're at the bottom of the league this year. LSU just needs to take care of homecourt the rest of the way and steal a couple more on the road and they'll be in the mix.

Arkansas was a great win, but we were firing on all cylinders. Maybe one of our best performances that I've seen thus far, aside from Michigan. I don't expect us to do that every single game, but if we can continue to play like that.. We're going to the tourney.

Patience my friend. In basketball, you have to believe in the process and the committee. Forget everything you know about how the country looks at Football with Basketball. There are no "big five" conferences. Its more like about 10 with another five that can generate a "world beater" for one night on one court. Plus, its not even the middle of January yet.

NCAA Tournament teams either are solidified or fall-apart in February. LSU is doing a great job coming together as a team and the more they focus on that, the more the committee will take notice.

If we stay injury free, Coach WW is showing he will deliver with this present group of guys.

Bama and Georgia are good, but not unbeatable. Particularly with LSU getting them at home. The style of play will be a return to what we saw vs. UK and A&M, so LSU is going to have to grind out possessions on both ends of the court (Arkansas wants to play a free flowing game where they don't really defend).

If they can get those two home games, then @ Vandy is one of the more winnable road games. And they may NEED to get that one vs. Vandy because the three road games after that are brutal (@ Tenn., @ Auburn, @ Florida).

To me, NOW is the chance for LSU to really make hay. 3 of the next 4 are at home.

Took Edwards a few games but he’s so solid. Doing a great job off the dribble instead of just spotting up.

Yeah I'm surprised he's driving the lane a little more now, he still has some trouble finishing time to time but that dump off to reath for the jam was a thing of beauty.

I thought for sure he was basically a 3 point shooter with nothing much else to offer, albeit a really good 3 point shooter.

And ESPN's BPI is taking the easy way out. It has LSU finishing 19-11 (10-8), winning every home game the rest of the way and losing every away game the rest of the way. It isn't crazy to think we steal another couple road wins the way we've played on the road so far this season. We could end up with 12 SEC wins and 20+ wins overall pretty easily and would be worthy of tournament bid. Not even hardcore LSU basketball fans here were projecting the WW turnaround to be that quick. Very impressed with our basketball team and new coach!

I would much rather have us under the radar at this time of the season and I would suspect that CWW would also. The polls mean nothing in basketball. The 64 are picked by people who know college basketball and for the most part do a good job. Being "on the bubble means nothing when you have so many games left to play.

Boy do you define contribution in a narrow way. There is so much more to winning basketball then scoring, as Coach Wade has shown us. All three of the players above play defense, hustle, share the ball, rebound, set picks for Waters and others.

In case of foul trouble or injury you know you can play these guys and they will come through for you. Look at how we have achieved what we have without Sampson who most everyone was calling our best player in the pre-season.

Of course they have to play the entire game, my point was they are not the backbone of the team, they aren't starters.

Funny you mention that, because when Sampson did go down, Onwuasor was given a shot and ultimately didn't do anything with it. Like I said, he's struggled all season for the most part except that Arkansas game where he looked definitely very good.

I am not trying to dog these guys, just saying the biggest difference makers on this team from last year to this year are NOT the newcomers outside of Waters, it's Epps, Reath, Sampson and Mays all stepping up their games in big ways.

I think this is a misnomer for how Arkansas plays defense. They play tough defense in the sense that they will try and turn you over in a manner that they either get the steal or you get the layup. So there are a lot of easy shots to be made but they can turn you over a ton. It's very hit or miss. LSU took care of the ball making Arkansas' defense look plain awful.

No question. And Wade ABSOLUTELY deserves a ton of credit for what he has done. But make no mistake about it, Waters has expedited the process significantly. He completely controls every game for LSU. The only one he really didn't was ND, and we saw how that turned out. Even vs. Marquette he almost single-handedly gave LSU a chance.

Even without Waters LSU would be an improved team this year. With him, they are at least in the NCAAT conversation. I knew he would be a good player, but he has exceeded even the highest of expectations. Wade and Co. put together great game plans. Wade and Co. ensure the attention to detail is always there. Wade and Co. refuse to accept mediocrity. But it's Waters who conducts the orchestra.

He's gets a lot of shite on this board, but I think Simmons was the best pure basketball player LSU has had since Chris Jackson. However, the difference between he and Waters is that Waters doesn't shy away from the huge moments. He relishes them.

Just like A&M being ranked 11 last week with a couple of losses. I also noticed that Clemson with a 14-1 record was not ranked and I didn’t notice Notre Dames record but they aren’t ranked either. I’m assuming that they are the same strong team that we played in Maui. Basketball rankings are really all over the place

All very winnable.

Let them overlook the Tigers. And then let all of them get buttfricked by the Wade Wagon

Sampson needs to step it up on offense. At least he is being selective with his shots. He is playing better defense.
