re: It's almost like Canada was good

I don't necessarily think it's odd. Wisconsin has had a specific offensive identity since Alvarez arrived in Madison. Based on what Bielema did at Arkansas, I think he wanted to mostly be faithful to that philosophy, so I can see where he didn't want Canada to stray too far from it.
So have we, no? We have always been known as a power running team who relies on our defense. This is not something new to LSu football this century with the arrival of Saban.

Doeren's seat was just starting to get warm when he fired Canada. I read an article where Doeren said he wanted to try something different. Not unheard of for someone who mighy think his job security is getting flimsy.
Well why was Canada the odd man out? Clearly whatever Dorean did worked because he's still at NC State.
Although how warm was his seat really? Canada left after a 7-6 season. Dorean followed that up with another 7-6 season and still kept his job.

Orgeron has shown to not have a firm idea of what he wants to do with his offense thus far. Based on everything that happened, I think Canada expected to have more autonomy and O wanted more input. I blame both of them for the underwhelming results, if that's true.
fair enough, and I can somewhat agree with some of that. I don;t believe the fault lies with one person, as it rarely does. I tend to believe that once Orgeron and Canada began to actually work together they flat out did not get along. I think you're right that Canada wanted complete autonomy and I think that what that meant was not seen the same way by both parties. For instance, I basically have complete autonomy in my job, but I'm not a partner so I do have people that I do have to answer to from time to time, and I understand that. Maybe that's where the break was with Canada. He wanted to do things his way and only his way and not listen to any outside input, including his boss. Well, Orgeron isn't exactly the passive type, so I can see where that would cause some tension. That's just my theory of one possibility, but like I said no one will ever truly know where the break was.

So you are saying ensminger was the best coordinator out there?

Eh, yes and no. We obviously weren't ever running the Air Raid, but it wasn't always the same, especially with Crowton at the beginning. Things were also pretty opened up in 2013; I'd argue we lost the Ole Miss game by being too gung-ho.

Everything I've read is that the fans and opposing coaches were surprised by the move. You'd have to ask Doeren about the change, but his seat got hot enough for NC State to release a statement that he would be retained following the second 7-6 finish.

Seems reasonable.

So what you are saying is O isn't good at hiring talented coordinators.

Not according to Aranda. Aranda says that Ensminger is better and he ought to know since he schemed against the both of them every day in practice.
There is also a rumor that Ensminger called the plays in the Texas A&M game too.

The thing about Canada is at least his offense could move the ball against good defenses.
In defense of Ensminger in the Bama game last season, he was using Les Miles' old playbook and often complained that most teams knew the plays coming via the formations.
Ensminger's said his new offense will be a spread RPO offense with three to four wideouts.

His offense didn't do shite until O intervened, uh hmm, meddled, as y'all say.
He's the head coach moonbat. He can do anything he wants.

Ensminger hasn't called plays based on his own offense in 20 years.
But he called them well using someone else's. You can't see the irony in that, can you?
He knows how to do it. When he does install his own it will be lights out.

While I know there are better OCs out there than Ensminger, I watched him set offensive records while calling plays from Cam fricking Cameron’s playbook. So I know Ensminger’s not garbage, and I’m hopeful he’ll be better running his own stuff.
I don’t remember big red zone problems with Ensminger in 2016. I do remember not being able to score from a half yard out under Canada.

Matt Canada took a team that averaged 32 ppg and 464 ypg under Ensminger and throttled them back to 27 ppg and 411 ypg. Only on the rant is 27 > 32 and 411 > 464.
You might want go to revisit those numbers.
Canada's offense scored 6 more PPG against SEC teams than Esmingers offense did. This while playing 4 freshman much of the snaps on OL, with younger receivers and a banged up Hesiman candidate in the backfield. Oh and a QB the majority of the Rant thinks was bad. Only Etling under Canada threw for 2400 yards and only 2 interceptions. Which is better than Matt Flynn did the year LSU won the BCS.

Canada was overrated by the tards.
He didn't give 2 shits about LSU.

Canada was a disaster on and off the field. I understand that constant complainers will down vote, but fact is, we have not seen E’s offense yet. Let’s wait and see. I think most of you will be please. He is a damn good coach.
Posted on 1/12/18 at 7:28 am to luciouslou
Special Ed and Dukey Joe better hope that Canada doesn't surface somewhere else and develop an offense that starts putting up big numbers, particularly in a Power 5 Conference.

I was looking for more under Canada.
Maybe my expectations were too high, but I thought we'd get more out of Etling and the passing game; however, we did not get a whole lot more.
I did like the way we used the backs, but the WR Corp was hardly a factor; but then perhaps that was a talent issue.
It doesn't matter now. The Canada days are over.

Why is it pathetic? Gary Crowton was a finalist for the Broyles award once upon a time. Using it as evidence someone is a good coach is ignorant

So O is known for running the jet sweep? Because that was our most successful play this year...7 ypc.
Just a thought....CSE may use the Jet Sweep as well...I mean Canada doesn't have a patent on it or anything.

You act like the offense E ran was totally his and it wasn't, he tweaked Cameron's offense. The big problem I had in the Bama game was, he didn't stick to the tweaks he had made and reverted back to Cameron's offense against Bama. I think we'll see a different philosophy next year, different from what he ran as interim OC. Pro style doesn't mean power I formation 100% of the time, you can run multiple sets. You see that in the pros, they run multiple sets, some teams run I, shotgun, variations of the spread(teams with more mobile qb's).
