Family member just got notice from Comprehensive Pain Management that her doctor had left the practice. Her prior assigned physician left there about a year ago. Just checked their website, and they have one (1) doctor remaining for the whole facility.

Anyone have the inside scoop on what's happening over there?

It always seemed like a busy place, and it's not like fewer people are getting hooked on opioids.

Pain docs think that just about all patients are dope addicts

Too much risk and not enough reward

Sucks for people with real issues

Dangerous business these days with the crack down on docs over-prescribing opiods.

Sucks, you'll have to find somewhere else to get your roxy fix now.

Good luck.

Could be a multitude of reasons.

Pay could be decreasing.

Scruffy isn’t aware of how that specialty is responding to the opioid crisis and it could have something to do with that.

Personally. Scruffy doesn’t understand how anyone can do that job.

Drug seekers are awful to deal with.

Let me summarize this for you. 75% of people who have chronic pain, really don't have any pain. It's psychological for most and a dependency.

25% more than likely have legit issues that could not be readily solved by surgery or those extensive procedures.

And yes. I pulled those numbers out my arse but it's my experience.

it's a sleazy business and borderline criminal. I'd argue 1/3 of the people who visit these places are looking for a fix. And I work in a cousin industry to this (risk management for healthcare organizations).

Without knowing the doctors in that particular pain management center, I see doctors switching from local pain management clinics all the time. Sometimes it’s better offers elsewhere, sometimes it’s bc of the DEA restrictions on the amount of opiates they can prescribe per patient and total.

Comprehensive pain management is a dump. It was owned by a horrible lady, Dr. Weitz. She moved out of Baton Rouge. She would promise the incoming doctors a piece of the practice and then a year later pull the rug out from underneath them. The turnover there is for the same as any other business. Terrible people at the top.

This is just a theory but perhaps these Doctors relocated to Vermillion Parish for the nationally renowed school system
