This narrative needs to stop. There is literally zero evidence that backs this up. Nothing but absolute bullshite.

You can say that again

Pure speculation on my part, but it seems to me that Aranda likely had a view about whether Canada should stay or go and likely made it known during yesterday’s hectic negotiation to keep him.
There is absolutely nothing that came out yesterday that even hints at this. The Aranda-Canada rift rumors were started here, most likely by Cheerios, and have no basis in reality.

I think that they, both Canada and Orgeron, were hoping he would get another job. I don't think there ever was an intention to fire him. Now that he hasn't found another job, things have changed.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Canada stick around for 2018.

Easy big fella. I think there is just as good of a possibility that Aranda lobbied FOR Canada to stay. And I stated I was speculatig, not creating a narrative.
My point is that all of the others speculating over the past month could have had the script completely flipped on them yesterday.

I tend to agree along those lines as well. I strongly suspect that the delay is created by giving Canada time to find another landing spot and maybe even, with LSU's help to make the whole thing more acceptable to all parties.

Yes. It was also reported on this board several weeks ago the Canada and Aranda did not get along. If this is true, Canada is indeed a problem and needs to be gone.

That's an interesting point. Is there any evidence? I guess not because you qualified your statement as pure speculation. My hunch would be if Aranda made any statement he probably asked if there was anything that could be done to keep Canada for another year.
If O and Canada can just set up boundaries and agree to play nice they could coordinate Canada finding a place to coach in 2019 and LSU starting the process to find an elite guy at the same time. Both would be acting in the best interest of everyone involved. Canada would have the added incentive of being "in a contract year" to perform.
If there is a total meltdown in the middle of the year, we still have Ensminger to be interim OC. O would have the incentive to make sure that meltdown doesn't happen.
If I were Alleva, that is the conversation I'd be having with those guys right now if I'm staring at simply promoting Ensminger.

Aranda is the associate head coach. He 100 per cent has input on the canada situation.
Aranda just signed a 4 year deal to stay at lsu knowing canada was out. What does that tell you?
This move is best for the program.

Not TONY Stark, silly.
They're looking at BRANDON Stark. Dude is like a wizard. He can see things before they happen.

I agree with this. There was an expectation on Canada and O's part that he would be able to find a landing spot. After no bites Canada says this before the bowl game:
quote:
When asked directly if he wants to be with LSU next season, Canada said, "I'd love to be here next year."
And this:
quote:
Canada said he has not talked with anyone at LSU about his future and insisted his focus is on the bowl game.
"I haven't," Canada said when asked about his future. "Right now, it's about the bowl game. I'm working hard. I've set up a plan. And I say I, I mean we as an offensive staff set up a great game plan.
When looking at the situation and financial implications I wouldn't be at all surprised if Alleva sits these two down and tell them to work it out.
I remember Les was fired before he wasn't and then fired again. Never say never.

Les always found a way to keep everything secret and suddenly coach leaves for a new job.

People are downvoting you for this but Ive had the same feeling since the Aranda/Faggies talks started.
Hes a smart enough guy that if he didnt like what he was seeing play out with the OC fiasco that he couldnt have picked a better time to hold LSUs feet to the fire than when he did. His career goals are directly tied to LSUs and offense is exactly one entire half of the equation. He had all the leverage in these negotiations with LSU dealing with the backlash from the OC drama and the CEO experiment.
Isnt Aranda a psychology major? Hes playing intergalactic 4D chess and he just went for Allevas and Ogre-rons jugular. The next news we see about the OC might have an Aranda influence.

For $2,500,000 Aranda can be both OC and DC.

I don't have any special, current knowledge, but I don't agree with your premise here. From what I have heard, Canada did not jell well with the entire staff. I think we are trying to help Canada find another job to offset our settlement, and let O go get an OC and offense that he really wants, and a coach that he can work with. I think he would take Briles, but the stink from Baylor is risky. He would love Sark or someone else from the Pete Carroll coaching tree. Don't be surprised if Bevell from Seahawks in an option within a week, or Morton from the Jets, but the latter appears to be Gruden's OC choice for the Raiders if reports are true.

That was part of the CEO package. The AD, the Pres and all the hanger-oners wanted a piece of LSU football. They all wanted access and power. This is where Fat Goebbels came in.
Leaders who hire people weaker, dumber or less qualified at their respective positions than themselves are really looking for a minion to do their bidding. Its dictatorial insecurity. John Dalberg-Actons maxim. Good leaders hire the most qualified available because they understand that a rising tide lifts all boats rather than placing all emphasis in being captain of the fleet.

Why would Canada negotiate? If they fire him he gets it all. If they had a way to fire for cause, it would have already been done.
