I feel there's been alot of smoke and mirrors. I know lsu would owe Canada 3 million if he is fired, but if the work environment was that bad why keep him around?

O just doesn't want him because his offense is too complicated

There is no way they can justify firing Canada with cause so they are going to eat the 3 million for nothing and promote Steve E

That was the plan all along. I don't think they are going to change from it

for whatever reasons LSU has not clarified the situation. ergo, it has been left up to "interested parties" to speculate; and speculate they have.

the situation is ripe for rumors, gossip, innuendo and outright lies. take your pick

Buyout is being negotiated according to numerous posters and the list of replacements is:

Stark
Kentucky's OC
Briles
Freeze

Tony Stark? That would be a game changer.
Iron clad hire right there.

Here is the way I look at it.

If O gets to fire Canada, then the administration is fully behind making O work as the head coach.

If Canada is kept then O is a lame duck coach with no authority over his staff.

It will be telling what happens.

I have no sauces but The Hayride has an article with some quotes from Mike Detellier from a WWL interview. I think we agree he's tight with Coach O and here's an exerpt:

quote:

It seems that the soap opera under the Stately Oaks continues for another season with chatter about Coach Ed Orgeron firing his offensive coordinator which would trigger yet another pricey buy out. What’s your feel on this matter?

No winner here and this was Coach O’s first hire and it didn’t work out. We have grown up in the business world and this happens daily there and to be honest it happens in sports more than folks would know. It started out as a philosophical difference and then it turned personal. They couldn’t mend then fence. Changes happen in business and sports all the time. It’s not about the leaving or parting of ways, but who you hire to make the spot work. Coach O has got to bring in a fresh face to the offense. I think Coach Ensminger will have a bigger say in the offense, but Orgeron has to hire another playcaller.

I bolded the sentence above which makes it sound like it's not likely that Canada can stay...

Hes gone.
Delly has been pretty adamant that Canada is gone and its only a matter of time. The hold up is how to handle it, not whether or not it should be done.

Alleva is fully entrenched behind O. If he wasn't, they wouldn't be paying $2.5m for a DC. But Alleva knows his job security is only as good as O's - so he is going to do whatever it takes to make this successful.

Whether or not it ends up being successful is still TBD.

While I don't disagree with you that everyone thinks this, but why hasn't it happened? You don't need another one lined up. The staff, players. fans and recruits are left to make up their own narrative as to what is going on. This is never a good thing.

If he is gone, then fire him. If not make an announcement to put everyone at ease. O started this crap with the A&M press conference so he needs to finish it, one way or the other.

It’s not complicated at all. They are in the process of negotiating at buyout.

Neither side can say anything until they reach agreement or impasse.

Do y’all honestly not get that?

O nor LSU can say publicly they want him gone.

Man you nailed it. This is what happens when an organization doesn’t set/control the narrative.

We saw it before when Alleva sat back and allowed Foley and Sankey to make him the bad guy in the UF rescheduling fiasco.

not sure about that...O can't just hire and fire assistants whenever he wants because there are major financial implications associated with that. It would be in O's best interest to make it work with Canada or hope he finds a new OC gig at another school. Otherwise, we are pissing away money.

Pure speculation on my part, but it seems to me that Aranda likely had a view about whether Canada should stay or go and likely made it known during yesterday’s hectic negotiation to keep him. If I’m right about that hunch, it could completely have changed the OC dynamic. Something to consider.
