To be clear: these companies are making a PROFIT while these individuals and families are living in substandard, unhealthy conditions where they aren’t even able to control the thermostats, where they have to bathe in a 50* bathroom

A long time ago I worked summers as a maintenance man in several housing project, the majority of the deplorable conditions are self inflicted by the residents, not the result of neglect by the owners. When you pay nothing for something it is of no value to you and you treat it as such. Landlords bet very tired of paying to repair damage then having the same damage again only days later.

This is 1000% true. My grandfather used to do some handyman work for one of his buddies that had sec 8 housing. I could always tell when he was doing work for the guy because he was in an insanely pissed off mood. He used to bitch about how the tenants would just needlessly trash and destroy the place.

I know a guy with many rentals. He only rents to section 8 tenants. As he said, it's a guaranteed money maker.

If they wreck the place the govt takes care of it and he has guaranteed rent.

A relative of mine owns a maintenance company that services a lot of NBR section 8 properties. He's told me stories about kitchen sinks that are left with serious leaks for weeks, people watching porn in front of 6-7 year old children and having to make sure they leave before the school bus drops the kids off or their vehicles will be robbed blind of anything of value.

I'm totally fine with ending all Section 8 programs, effective tomorrow.

I don't think you are going to like how that works out, though.

It's no different than the public schools. They all claim that if we dropped more money in schools, that they would improve yet completely ignore the fact that the schools are shitty because of the kids raised by terrible parents (or lack thereof).

Agreed. The government could pay those kids' tuition to Episcopal and it wouldn't make a difference. This all starts at home. I know plenty of people that grew up relatively poor and turned out fine because they had involved parents that cared for them.

We see that over and over and over. If people won’t help our communities without profit that is a bigger problem than TRYING to make a profit off of it. Profit keeps the wrong people in power for way too long without any options for the disadvantaged. Like I said, this is another example of how it doesn’t trickle down. Wealth made on the backs of the poor just keeps going up while they get absolutely nothing.

Wow, you sound like a communist...

Lets get the Government out of the charity business. Let the Section 8 tenants go out and earn their own money then live in whatever housing they can afford.

Section 8 doesn’t mean sub standard.

It means subsidized.

Property owners like it because they don’t have to worrry about collecting rent.

Kibbles is wrong yet again. Section 8 has standards that landlords have to keep up if they want to keep getting that government money deposited into their bank accounts every month.

This is one of the best trolls I have ever seen on here. Well done.

What gave it away, however, was the randomly capitalized words and "LITERALLY."

And yes, she is such a special level of stupid that they haven't invented a word to properly describe her.
