Anybody who has ever had to go through one of these knows that wills can bring out the worst in some people. Even if the wills are divided up evenly and justly.

The state where Sager died may have a requirement that all known next-of-kin are served, so if they wish to contest the will they are given notice. They're only doing what the law requires.
In Georgia (where he died), this is correct.

It’s basic human psychology. People have problems. They think others care and that their problems are more important than yours. In reality, nobody really cares. For some reason, airing it out seems to be a coping mechanism for some.

Happened in my SO's family. She took care of her mom and dad while her a-hole brother never lifted a finger. Then when it's time to settle the estate, he hires a lawyer to "make sure he gets everything he's entitled to." Threatens to sue her for breach of fiduciary duty, drags the thing out for two years and costs the estate about 50K. Meanwhile he's too stupid to see that his lawyer is manipulating his ego to run up a bigger bill. In the end, at least half of what he inherited went up in smoke in legal fees.

good for her ... if i could get a rich woman to cut her kids out of her will, i'd sure as hell do it ...

That's awful. The thing that would bother me the most is knowing my father actually wrote out a will, intentionally disinheriting me. That would eat at my for the rest of my life, wondering why he would do something like that.
It seems like they knew this was coming, as well as, they did not want anything from the will. They are probably just fine in their own right.
I actually had a similar conversation over christmas with my family. My grandparents are getting up there in age. They have some money... not an insane amount but something approaching 7 figures that will probably be there when they pass. I am the executor in both of their wills.
I have a father and two uncles. One of my uncles has tried to convince me to convince my grandparents to write him out of the wills. This uncle says he is set for life and wants all the money to go to his two brothers (my dad and my other uncle). I told him to take that up with gramps!
Point being, some people may not want to get anything. Perhaps these guys just wanted everything to go into trust for their younger step-siblings. Who knows.
I don't understand why stepmom is suing them, though.

Not sure if it’s been posted already but Sager’s daughter put out a full statement. Really sad imo

What a sad situation. That is surprising Sager wouldn’t pass on some of his assets to his kids. Part of my family has been fractured from a similar situation, and it’s very unfortunate. Once something like that happens, it’s hard to repair something the way it used to be.

Here's the statement:

But regardless kind of a shitty thing to completely exclude your children from a will for some gold digger
I read it like this as well.

There would have been violence if someone didn't "let" me see a dying relative. Not sure how the kids allowed this to occur

Per this tweet he said he Had no interest in contesting the will, but he’s dragged into court anyway. Doesn’t sound entitled.

Sager did them dirty. I would be pissed too
There’s one of two explanations here. Either Sager was a POS or his new wife manipulated him/emotional abused him into leaving everything to her
Not a good situation either way

Craig sager left his wife for a Chicago Bulls dancer. What do you think?
Posted on 1/4/18 at 10:26 am to RedRifle
I mean it could be a combo of both
Posted on 1/4/18 at 10:36 am to jimithing11
Well that is really sad to read. It's hard not to question Sagers character knowing he left his children with nothing.

After reading the daughter's message, I have gained more respect for Craig, Jr.
