How much better do you think we would be? Looking back, Monty seemed to get the most out of his teams. For example: the 2011-12 roster was one of the worst I’ve ever seen in the NBA (Lance Thomas started for us at times), but they still played hard and could defend. Monty never had a bench and certainly didn’t have a combo of Boogie and AD to wreck shite upon the western conference. Gentry doesn’t have depth either but the overall talent we have is better than what Monty had for most of his New Orleans career. Yet we stand around and jack up 3’s while playing no defense. I believe Monty would have this team at the 4-6 seed range instead of a borderline 8 seed.

TLDR: Uncle Al can’t coach his way out of a wet paper bag. We were better off with Monty

We're 18-18? I honestly think close games like that Monty pulls off. If its anything, Monty is vastly better than Gentry at drawing up plays after timeouts.

Its just the in-betweens its frustrating

So that being said, 20-16 or 22-14

On a scale of 1-10, with Stu Jackson being a 1 and Phil Jackson being a 10, Al Gentry is a 2.7 and Monty Williams is a 3.7.

Are we talking about the same monty? I need to go bump some threads one day. It's like getnry sucks so much in alot of you guys' opinions that you have recreated monty in your head.

Guess what, I had season tickets then too;

The team came out of stoppages clueless way more than they do now. Not to mention Monty was terrible with timeouts just like you guys bash gentry for.

Guess what else, The team had off nights, I don't remember this hornets/pels team that came out every night and redlined it on every single play that Monty is said to have coached now.

Hate to break it to you guys; Monty sucked, gentry to this point has not been any better.

I would assume the team would have the same record. Maybe they have more games where they play harder because Monty would bring them bowling right, and get them to buy in I guess? His inept game plans and archaic philosophies would lose enough games to offset whatever "RAH RAH" he brought to the table. We often complained about how arcahic he was then, can you imagine it in 2017's NBA?

This. We lost games we had no business losing when Monty was head coach. He wasn’t as good as people are remembering him to be.

I don’t think most are saying he is good, just that he was better than Gentry and/or he would do better with this roster.

I think we’d have 20 wins with Monty right now, but I think this roster is more suited to him than Gentry. Irony is Monty’s rosters were more suited to Gentry’s style. But that’s a Dell issue.

Monty is better than AG, but IMHO that doesn’t mean his firing was without merit. Just means Pels made a bad situation worse.

Not canning Gentry after last season was a huge mistake.

Monty Williams is to Gentry as Johnny Jones was to Trent Johnson. Marginally better but still garbage

looking forward to reply with PPG

Pels fighting to get above .500 and into the playoffs in Monty's last season. Hanging right around .500

Lose to the 7-31 Sixers and the 5-36 Knicks in the same week.

But yeah, fire Gentry and pine for Monty. Dummies.

I wasn’t “pining for Monty” you cünt... I’m speculating that Monty could do better with this roster than Gentry. The last Monty team, that fought to get into the playoffs, did not have Demarcus Cousins. We could very well do the same this year and clinch the 8 seed by the skin of our teeth, or even miss the playoffs all together, with a better roster than ‘14-15.

He bypassed the site's swear filter by using a foreign "u", perhaps he just has his intellect focused on the wrong endeavors?

This team would likely be worse with Monty as cousins would probably already have clocked him in practice and checked completely out for the rest of the season.

You're fricking high if you think a guy like Monty gets much more out of this roster. Way more likely he gets less imo.
