Years of distrust in regard to QB decisions

I suspect that a lot of the issues that this board has in making heated arguments for Myles Brennan or Lowell Narcisse comes down to years of distrust with Coach Miles in making good decisions at the quarterback position. I loved Coach Miles but I still haven’t quite forgiven him for leaving a clearly struggling Jordan Jefferson in the 2012 national championship game and not giving Jarrett Lee a shot after his early success that year. He never seemed to be able to recover the mojo after Perriloux - Mettenburger the exception, of course.

I'm tired of the "put Lee in the BCSCG" shite. 6 years is enough. Lee absolutely shite his pants in Tuscaloosa and the same would've happened on 1/9/12. He was not the answer that night. In fact, if Miles didn't panic about that rumor of Saban getting a practice tape and didn't try to alter the entire gameplan in 24 hours I think that night is much different.

Bullcrap. Jordan Jefferson was terrible and looked like a deer in the headlights. He was clearly rattled.
Point was that CLM didn’t inspire confidence in his QB decisions and we’ve been fiercely second-guessing these decisions since his tenure.

What? Please link this story because all I saw was the same gameplan we used in Tuscaloosa, almost the exact same one.

Bullcrap. Jordan Jefferson was terrible and looked like a deer in the headlights. He was clearly rattled.
At halftime of the BCSCG, Jefferson had completed 85.71% of his passes, and he had a QB efficiency rating of 116.91.
At the end of the third quarter of the BCSCG, Jefferson had completed 76.92% of his passes, and he had a QB efficiency rating of 97.08.
Or Miles could turn to Lee:
In the 2008 game against Alabama, Lee had a QB Rating of 69.13 and a completion percentage of 38.24%.
In the 2009 game against Alabama, Lee had a QB Rating of 56.96 and a completion percentage of 40.00%.
In the 2010 game against Alabama, Lee had a QB Rating of 137.54 and a completion percentage of 57.14%.
In the 2011 game against Alabama, Lee had a QB Rating of 14.52 and a completion percentage of 42.19%.
Comparing Lee's QB Rating against Alabama to Jefferson's QB Rating against Alabama in the BCSCG, Lee had a higher QB Rating against Alabama only ONE time in Lee's entire career.
Comparing Lee's completion percentage against Alabama to Jefferson's completion percentage against Alabama in the BCSCG, Lee NEVER had a higher completion percentage against Alabama in Lee's entire career.
Miles can stick with a QB who is completing over 75% of his passes, or he can substitute Lee into the game.
Lee might have mixed things up. Lee might have sparked the team. However, the odds were not in Lee's favor. He was exactly the kind of QB that Alabama's defense feasted on: an immobile pocket passer. His history against Alabama confirms that statement, and his history against Alabama can be fairly described as abysmal.
On the other hand, Jefferson as QB slowed the Bama rush down. Moreover, Jefferson's ability to lead a second half comeback in 2011 was rock solid before the BCSCG. Jefferson had led comebacks in the last three HUGE games prior to the BCSCG: the GOTC, the Arkansas game, and the SECCG.

I know that you can't score less than zero, so Lee wouldnt have been worse.

I agree with this, Lee was not the answer, but Mett possibly could have been. Bama was crashing the ends and outside linebackers all night long. As Clemson has shown over the last two years, slants are pass plays that work against their defense, but Mett would have been the only one capable of throwing those passes. Whether he would have delivered or not is another story, but it should have been tried

Lee had no prayer against bama. Period.

So, Jefferson gets in trouble, gets suspended for several games, Lee comes in and wins 6 straight games. Then Lee struggles in one game, gets replaced by Jefferson, and didn’t get one chance to redeem himself the rest of the season. Jefferson struggles in the National championship and Lee doesn’t even get a shot. Still pisses me off.

A QB can throw interceptions for touchdowns. It's called a pick six.
In the GOTC, Lee threw two interceptions which led to two Alabama field goal attempts.

that rumor about Saban getting a practice tape
This wasn't a rumor. Saban did have tape to work with. It was the film of the previous meeting in Tuscaloosa. Because LSU damn sure didn't change their game plan from the first meeting. But for that matter, neither did Alabama. They played the exact same game with the exact same offensive play calls. The big difference was that Alabama executed and avoided miscues on offense during the rematch.

Lee completed one more pass to LSU than he did to Alabama. His QB rating of 14.52 could fit into a shoe box.

Like the Jordan Jefferson shovel int? Good point, at least JJ throws interceptions that are hard to return.

Good lord. When will these stupid threads stop?
Posted on 12/27/17 at 12:12 pm to Salviati
Salviati-You must have been watching a different game than I in the 2011 SEC Championship game because JJ was atrocious. Now I give him credit for the GOTC in Bama. He did what he was called upon to do. But the SECCG was the worst quarterback performance I've ever seen. TM7 with his punt returns and the running game dominated the 2nd half of that game.
