If he has to rely on his coordinators 100% he should not have the input he was rumored to have had in the Troy game.

Of course he deserves credit. It's not like a phone book is our head coach and the coordinators run the show 100%.
You think he SHOULD have had input in the Troy game.

Lol.
And so it begins.
And so it begins.

Let O do whatever he wants - meddling with the offense again will end up costing him and Pomansky their jobs. The sooner the better.
Ensminger is not the freaking answer.
It's a shame we didn't get to see Canada's full offense. But I do understand protecting Etling because LSU would not have won 9 games with Brennan (true fr QB). Etling would not have lasted season running what Canada really wanted to do.

Offensive and defensive coordinators don't run the entire team on gameday so of course he should be there.
O said he meddled too much in the offense so apparently he did more than he should and it was a detriment to the team. Alleva had to come in and tell him to let his coaches coach. How are you being so obtuse here, man?

I fault 0 and Alleva. I could be wrong, but 0 is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. No one was happier than Nick Saban when he was named head coach. Orgeron needs to let the OC do his darn job.
This. It boils down to this.

What are your thoughts?
He's destined to frick this up. I have zero doubts that he botched that Troy game. He had his buddy Ensminger heavily involved in the play calling during that atrocious first half. Canada had the reigns in the second half. You could just tell by the play calling.
O is going to switch to that offense that we saw last year. It was okay for a little bit given the quality of teams we played. However, once we played a team that could field a good defense (Alabama, Florida) - we were atrocious.
O can't get out of his own way...

he wanted to get a Reggie Bush type of back. Who the hell doesn't?
Yep.

Well that's not really the problem. The problem is that he knows the least out of anyone on his own coaching staff.

O said he meddled too much in the offense so apparently he did more than he should and it was a detriment to the team.
quote:To an extent. Like I said, if Canada got everything he's rumored to have wanted, LSU would have been killed by UF.
Alleva had to come in and tell him to let his coaches coach.
quote:Stick to an argument. You started by saying you don't want O having input. You said you'd trust the proven guy. Then you said O should have input because he's the head coach. This is what I'm talking about. And I get it. O put himself in a corner. He kept saying he's going to let his coaches coach. Then it comes out that he's had input and that handcuffed Canada's playcalling vs. Troy. What went wrong there was Canada wasn't comfortable calling those plays and he called a horrible game with the plays he was given. It's not necessarily that the system of philosophy was bad at the time given our personnel issues. The communication was terrible. That's on O 100%. But he didn't suddenly stop having input in the offense even after the Troy game.
How are you being so obtuse here, man?

So what? Are you willing to trade one historically bad loss for one good win? UF was garbage.

That's how Dave Schultz made it sound. But what I took from it was he wanted to have a fullback in the system. On short yardage plays having a single back with no one leading the way seems to be the problem O is having. I also feel the same way, Have someone leading the back. Could also be an option for a fullback drive or a fullback there to push the quarterback on quarterback sneaks. When fournette was here, his favorite player was the fullback
I agree with this. Guice and Williams are downhill runners, one cut and go. They are built for a power run game and a power I would benefit them. I think there is a happy medium in styles. You can incorporate both.
LSU currently ranks 100Th in red zone offense (FG misses skew the rank somewhat) and 67th in 3rd down conversion percentage.

Btw this is coming from mike detillier a close friend of O.
I don't care who he is friends with, detillier is an idiot. Puts his foot in his mouth daily. Thought BYU would be a tough game.
Just a good ole boy in local radio.

That was the most frustrating thing. As a fan, I never felt more duped than that.
That was the main thing he referenced while politicking for the LSU job. While at Ole Miss, he said micro-managed every single aspect of the team to their (and his) detriment. Orgeron said he learned and grew from that experience and was going to let his coaches coach.
Honestly, if there is one place Orgeron doesn't need to be meddling in, it's the offense.

. I think he knows that with a new offense and one so drastically different from the one they ran last year will need time to settle in. I think he saw that as the year went on.
So now that it’s settled in, he wants to change it. Freaking lovely.

So much for recruiting/getting Rogers from Parkway....(I'm to understand Rogers and Terrance Marshall are a package deal?)....

King Name Dropper. This dude from Lockport, LA expects everyone to believe that he actually talks to these people he name drops each day. And he uses FIRST names, like he knows them. Funny how he never has these people that he talks to on any shows, isn’t it?

Okay. He wasn't totally wrong. If we had run up tempo, 4 WR sets vs UF, we would have been destroyed by the end of that game just like we were vs State.
You know this how?
OK. You are correct. Let's let 0 decide how to run the offense...
