You're out of your mind. The 2015 was still a top 25 defense. A very modest one year decline on that side of thew ball didn't cost Miles his job. 7-8 years of the same old conservative play calling and failure to live up to the annual promises to fix it is what cost Miles his job.

Chavis blocked O from being on the staff while he was here. He hates O. I'm almost positive it has to do with when Fulmer/Chavis were fired for Kiffin which brought O with him. I talked with someone close to Chavis when he was still employed here. My memory is foggy on it but I remember asking a few times about O joining the staff and the answer was always "no way."

The defense gave up 24.3 points per game ranking 41st. That's pretty damn bad for LSU.

They gave up 19 or more points in the first 10 games for the first time in school history.

Steele was shite.
He was shite before that at Clemson.
And he was shite before that at Alabama when Saban ran him out of town.

Steele was basically fired from LSU. It was one of those situations where Miles said you better find another job because your time is done here.

Not disputing any of that but he's not what cost Miles his job.

To answer the question, Orgeron was asked if the game was more emotional for some guys that played under Chavis and he said, "No. "

He was then asked about if he has any history with Chavis and he said, "None."

It came off like there may be some bad blood there or just complete disinterest in talking about Chavis and his time here.

No, Miles was fired because he refused to change the offense. Had nothing to do with Steele or Peveto. Maybe you were being sarcastic and I missed it.

It was his first year here. Its funny Canada gets a pass but Steele gets crapped on. What was Steele's Defense ranked? Canada's offense this yr? Canada has a team that rarely turns the ball over and a strong defense giving the O good field position and just flat out shutting teams down in the 2nd halves of games.

Im not crapping on Canada, theres plenty to like, but to say Steele was shitty is unfair. He moved his family to a complete mess, from the AD not backing the head coach and with a horrible LSU QB situation. The QB situation was arguably the worst in the country.
He was trying to instill his complex defense here and knew this wasnt a long-term situation for the HC. Add in the SEC west was as strong as any division in many years and most would agree that he was in a very difficult situation.
Miles wanted this shitty DC to stay and Malzahn certainly saw something and hired him and paid him with many other options.

This is stupid. Steele is an excellent coordinator. The reason our defense sucked from 2013 through 2015 is that our dline recruiting went to shite. We had some down years in Louisiana for dline. Instead of working their butts off and getting numbers on the dline, our staff took flyers on guys like Herron, Valentine, and Gilmore and stood pat. Yeah, they were highly rated by the services, but they were head cases. Gilmore turned out decent after three years, but Herron will end his career with very little in the way of contributions. With no depth on the dline no coordinator is going to look good.

I like Aranda, but he came at the right time, when Herron and Gilmore finally could stand in the two deep and a good bunch of freshman came in for depth.

Steele was brought here because he was the best recruiter who happened to be a DC.

this is stupid. Les and Fulmer went down because they couldn't field good offenses toward the end of their tenures.

Fulmer in particular couldn't seem to do much offensively unless Cutcliffe was there as his OC. his last year UT averaged 17 ppg. that's atrocious. yet Chavis' D led the SEC in total D and only gave up 17ppg. much like how his last LSU D led the SEC, and gave up 17ppg.

Chavis had his warts, particularly recruiting, but on the whole he was a really good DC for LSU. and a good one at UT. the A&M version, not so much.
