Is that because Orgeron wasn't wanted on the staff by Chavis who preferred Brick Haley? Then when Chavis left, Miles had the greenlight to hire Orgeron when he brought in K.Steele?

An always overlooked hire when people talk about the reasons Miles was fired.

The hirings of Peveto and Steele directly resulted in Les getting fired.

The thing that held Les's teams together through the years of shitty offense was an absolutely electric and powerful special teams unit. Once Peveto was hired and special teams went to shite starting in 2014 it was the end for Les. No longer could he rely on his punting unit flipping the field or his kick coverage team pinning teams back deep.

Steele was just an awful d coordinator. The offense was actually decent and serviceable in 2015. LSU's defense gave up 19 or more points in the first 10 games in the first time in school history. That was a really poor defense that the team couldn't rely on once things got tough in November.

Most people blamed the recruiting of Chavis and Brick Haley for Kevin Steele's underwhelming defense in 2015. I'm not saying Steele was great, he's no Aranda, but Auburn is doing pretty well with him.

I still dont understand how Steele was so crappy here. His defenses at Auburn have been lightyears better. It's not like he went through some huge schematic change here when he was here. Aranda comes in year 1 and switches us to a 3-4 and we are way better than Steele's defense without even recruiting to a 3-4 defense.

Our front 7 was mediocre talent-wise when Steele was here. Auburn had a lot of talent on that end when he arrived. However, it doesn't explain the amount of blown coverage we saw that seemingly isn't as big a problem for him there.

LSU's secondary had plenty of talent in 2015 and there were massive coverage busts most games. It was a scheme problem with is the fault of the coach.

Go back and look bud. LSU improved in every st category from 13-14 except kick coverage.

Oh and Joe Alleva. Les wanted Aranda the first go round. Alleva sabotaged two seasons at LSU to get rid of Les. frick him.

We were avg on the D-Line. While not giving up that many yards on the ground (3rd conf) and getting pressure on QB (3rd conf) we gave up a lot of points (10th conf). That points to bad field position- either a bad offense and/or bad special teams. Our offense, in yardage, wasn't THAT bad... so all that points to bad special teams (as poster above stated).

So I'll qualify my statement- DL wasn't good enough to support other deficiencies.

Side Note: on of the reasons our scoring is down under Canada this year is our D has a tendency to give up long drives in the first half. Not the only reason, but it's a heavy contributor.

The icing on the cake was the deficiencies at LB.

Yeah, apparently Steele’s scheme is very complicated and was a lot for our DB’s to handle. Couple that with not getting a lot of pressure on QB’s, and you give up big plays galore.

Steele

I actually thought he didn't do bad considering it was his first and only year here. And especially knowing that we had absolutely zero depth at linebacker.

But yeah, downvote away anyway.

QUESTION: John Chavis hasn't been here in three years, but he still recruited some of these guys. Is it going to be more emotional, you think, for those guys or anything?

COACH ORGERON: No.

QUESTION: What is your history with John at all?
COACH ORGERON: None.

Chavis has contributed to the downfall of 3 coaches:

Fulmer in TN
Miles in LA
Sumlin in Aggieland

He is a defensive cancer.
