You realize that legally they can log 700 miles a day, right?

Gonna have to get the range to at least 600 miles,
They will offer a 600 mile version in 25 years.

Exactly the point. That's why I said at least 600 per. A truck that does only 500 isn't going to be good for long haulers.

Max is 500 so real world with full load and a little traffic...
A hybrid system would be .such more practical.

They can get 400 more miles after a 30 minute charge...

They have to take a 30 minute break during the 11 hours.

80% of trucking routes in the US are 250 miles or less. Guess 500 miles at full load at highway speed made enough sense for them in their research.

This truck looks to be more short and medium duty than long haul.
No sleeper, no passengers.
Which is great. Replace the tankers, skid loaders and intermodal container trucks, those seem to be the worst drivers.

Can you imagine how much "dirty energy" it takes to make that truck?!
I don't think the hippies realize how much dirty energy it takes to power that truck either.
Fossil fuels are Tesla's biggest ally right now along with federal government and their free money. Can't power a fleet of electrical semi trucks with wind farms and fairy farts.

I wonder if they will still pass other trucks on the interstate by going 1 mph faster?

500 mile max range?
There always "that guy"..Kid, they can charge for 30 minutes (refuel, lunch, shite) and they're good for 400 more.
And to the dipshit that said they would take a 30 minute break in those 11 hours...you are simply dumb.
And before you retort in desperation to seem legit, just know my exwife was head of sales and marketing for a large trucking company...Im no expert, but I know differently than you think

They have to take a 30 minute off duty break within the first 8 hours of on duty time, 11 hours is the max driving time assuming there are no other exemptions such as adverse driving conditions.

But that 30 minutes is still allotted towards the 11 hours they can legally drive. It’ll be interesting to see how the eld mandate affects truckers profitability. Lots of issues that will come in to play for long haulers. In my industry, you can easily have 1-2 hour unexpected waits to load/unload and suddenly your truck can’t make his run. Also, say your truck is 30 miles away from his destination when his time runs out, by the law he will have to pull over for 10 hours before starting a new work period

The goal with these trucks is to have superchargers at loading docks to charge while loading/unloading

I do scheduling and dispatch for a small trucking company.

Drivers going over the Basin and MS River bridges laugh at his safety measures. They will figure out a way to flip this thing over and get it to burn and explode. No question.

I didn't read the link, but how much does it cost to fully charge a truck like this? How much are companies going to charge for them to charge at their stations?
I could see it not being an issue to someone like Walmart that has locations all over the country so they can just "fuel up" at their stores, but is the cost going to be that much different?
