In fairness, to be technical the end game isn't for THAT truck to be driverless.

That's probably another truck or 3 down the road to get to truly autonomous trucks.

And to the dipshit that said they would take a 30 minute break in those 11 hours...you are simply dumb.
And before you retort in desperation to seem legit, just know my exwife was head of sales and marketing for a large trucking company...Im no expert, but I know differently than you think

That's where we'll have to disagree. I don't think we're talking decades. For every day people to have self-driving cars probably will take decades because people like their cars, it's an investment they may not be able to make, etc.

I think that when it comes to long-haul trucking, though, the decision to go autonomous is a purely business decision, and I believe that autonomous long-haulers just have so much massive upside (no driver to pay, longer daily range, reduction in at-fault insurance claims, virtual elimination of the need for large numbers of mechanics to keep complex engines running if you're going electric, etc.) that when the technology is available, it's going to very quickly take over the industry.

Let me be clear that in this instance, I'm not talking about moving the load for the first mile or the last mile. I'm talking about picking up a load at the loading station in California and hauling it overland it to a receiving station in, say, Texas. The trip from the dock to the loading station and the trip from the receiving station to the customer would likely still require a short-haul trucker. The long overland hauls are what I'm talking about.

Most truckers refuel everyday (top off), because they want the points on their gas cards. At 11 hr shifts, that's like 5-6 hours of driving stretches.

You can easily do that with an hour or two recharge/lunch break in the middle. Battery life is not going to be the limiting factor here.

Gonna have to get the range to at least 600 miles, the legal driving limit per day.

Why? That range is better than most full tanks of gas, and you can just recharge in 30 min.

It’s a time constraint, not a mileage. You can do 700-750 miles easy in West Texas

Then those truckers aren't the target market. It's not difficult to understand this

People hate on Tesla but they’re pushing new tech and being innovative which is what we need.

roads will be obsolete before these take and actual part of the market share.

This is really the area TSLA has the best chance of succeeding in though. They are already being beaten to the market by the Big 3 and will be undercut on price, the real factor when buying a $30-50K item.

Too bad the bills for the failed Model 3 will come due before this truck really gets off the ground.

What does it do for loading/unloading times? Some days those can take up the majority of a drivers “on duty” and driving hours
