Status, which is sometimes an advantage in specific jobs.

Because I like cars?

Link me some decent $1000 cars off craigslist.
Cars are just butt-fricking expensive these days. A new Tacoma would get you to that $600/mo note, easily. A Civic would be around $400 without much down payment! (And what fresh-faced college grad has down payment money?)
I'm a Libtard Dummycrat (learned that on the Poli Board), but Cash For Clunkers was stupid and ruined the used car market for cheap transportation. Not to mention the recent natural disasters that have flooded tens of thousands of cars in Houston & Florida.
Also: I was that dumb college grad who needed a new car. My paid-off F150 got bad mileage for my 100 mile commute, so I traded it for a 4x4 Yukon... that got the same mileage but carried a $500 note at 5%. Still miss that truck.

I learned this lesson when we had a 100k car sitting in the driveway unused next to a new 4runner not being used. We both were driving our weekend cars 90% of the time.
So you had 4 fricking cars for 2 drivers?
Or am I missing something?

Absolutely
You won't be able to keep up with all the women throwing themselves at you in your $1k Craigslist car

You let your wife dictate your car buying decision?
Nice license plate too. I bet it goes well with your lycra pants. You probably turn all the boys' heads in that car.

spending $75,000 on a new SUV when you can get the same model 2 years older for $35,000 that has an older version of bluetooth built-in
I love how much people go overboard with these examples.
Especially when talking about trucks. If you have shopped for a used truck in the last five years, you know they don't depreciate all that much.

That car looks like a pile of shite

That's part of the reason why I got the cheaper version instead of limited on my car. I can pay double my monthly note and pay it off faster and if god forbid an emergency happens, I can just pay the regular monthly amount.
And if I total it, I'm not stuck paying a $40k loan when the insurance gives me $20k or below.

which part is incorrect?
that new SUVs can cost upwards of $75k?
or that you can buy 2-3yo SUVs for $35k all day long?

That's fine for you. Some people like to spend their money on new cars.

Precisely, I guess when one rarely leaves the neighborhood, who cares about one's ride.
I travel a lot, too much, and reliability is a big screaming deal
