In college football, have a tall walk on basketball player type with a large vertical leap (former LSU basketball player Chris Johnson who is 6’11 comes to mind) come on to the field only to block extra points and field goals. Even if you can’t block every kick, it would greatly affect the psyche of the kicker. Obviously this would not work in NFL due to the 53 man roster restriction.

3. Tell my WR to let the DB run into them if the DB is not looking back to the ball. Pass interference every time.

That's a good one.

Or more to the point, if you have a half step, just slow down at the last second and make sure to be right in front of the DB, and the DB, even if he is looking, will run into you every time.

Because you only give them one legit shot at scoring, rather than multiple attempts.

I'm not sure what the parameters are on his statement, but just to make up a hypothetical....

If a team needs a TD, I'd rather them be at the 50 with :30 left in the game compared to the 10 or closer with 1 untimed down.

We see crazy catches with a PI nearly every week in the NFL. It would result in multiple free shots at the end zone with the possibility of a catch.

I'm not referring to normal PI, I mean just tackle the guy and don't let him even attempt to catch it.

You don't do it from the beginning. It would be better suited if there are like 15-20 seconds left and the team is on the 10 yard line, when you are up 7.

There are a lot of NCAA basketball players that play football after their basketball eligibility is done because they’re not good enough for the NBA. I know you can’t walk on as a scholarship athlete of another sport but I guarantee you can find former basketball players. And he doesn’t need to be 6’11. Washington State had a 6’8 tight end about 10 years ago that blocked multiple kicks in one season.

So it's not 90% chance of incomplete...that's not even remotely close. Hail Marys get intecepted all the time, they are the easiest interceptions.

You think wayyyyy more than 10% of Hail Mary attempts are caught by either team?

It could be complete. It's more like 50% incomplete...30% intercepted...and 20% caught.

I think your 50% incomplete rate is off by about 40 %

On a last second "hailmary" opportunity, let's say 70 yards out.. instead of throwing it as far as you can down to the 20 yard line, instead have the ball snapped to a qb who throws it 30 yards backwards to a WR (which it becomes a punt return, building a blocking wall) trying to create a hole for a "Kickoff Return" style play. The defense will have no idea it's guarding a special teams like play

Yeah so don’t do it then

It’s not rocket science, there are opportunities to do this all the time and no one ever does

Raiders-chiefs game a few weeks ago is a prime example, and they kind of did it on accident

When you're backed inside your own 1, just run the play clock down and take penalties until the defense finally jumps and gives you 5 yards. You could even have your OL flinch until you get the offsides. You have nothing to lose because a false start or delay game would only back you up a few inches.

I'd like to see a team run the wildcat, and attempt a pass. I'm sure it's happened, but I've never seen it. I think the wildcat is beyond stupid, but if you attempt a pass, the defense can't just sell out on run.

Similar situation. 1st and goal at the 5 with 10 seconds left. You on defense up by 3 pts. The offense has one shot to score a TD then they kick a FG to tie....tackle all WRs/RBs at the line and get the penalty. Time runs down and offense kicks the FG.

On a similar note, if you're up and have to punt with 30 seconds or less left, you should just tackle everyone on offense and have a RB run around. If they accept the hold, just take a knee on the next down. If they decline, the game is over.

Coach Kelly already does no punting and onside kicks on every score.

Fourth and one.. come out with four wide outs and a RB so it forces the defense to come out in nothing heavier than nickle.. line up in shotgun, fake a few audibles/hot routes, QB creeps up behind center, snap, QB sneak for a first down, then frick the captain of the cheerleading team after the game

4 TEs. Unstoppable to defend in the current NFL and College league. Get 4 pass catching TEs and no one could stop you. Run the ball down their throats with 4 guys as big or bigger than LBers then next play have them running 15 yards down the middle of the field against DBs 5'' shorter

Most tightends can either block or catch, not both.
