I only really talk about stuff when my dad or son asks me or when I’m deep in the scotch.

My dad was in Vietnam and both grandfathers and a bunch of great uncles who were in the big one who never talked about it.

When my gramps got toward the end of his life he would finally talk to me about stuff he had been through because I asked. Market Garden stuff and the Ardennes.

Blew my mind

Damn, hell of a lineage

I've got a great uncle that was in the Bataan Death March. He's got to be one of the last remaining survivors still alive.

There has been a few posters here over the years that weren't there or exaggerated their experiences. It's not hard to figure them out. They always say something that trips them up. Kind of a sad existence really.

I believe that's what he says. A sniper in the Marines. He even has a tat saying so.

I was never in the military so it's hard to catch the little slip ups. I don't know enough about all that.

Ask him the color of the boathouse at Hereford.

Trick question. There is no boathouse.

Had a great uncle in WW2 and the "Korean conflict" as it says on his tombstone, was a fighter pilot.

Died when I was young, but one of the things that stand out most to me in memory, was he had sleeves of old school tattoos that had gotten during his time.

Yeah, I can understand that. Some of the terms and situations aren't normally used in everyday life.

Be careful. I did the same thing thinking a guy was lying. Turned out the guy was a war hero. I felt like a arse for doing that.
