The best game I remember was a boxing game that had analog handles that you gripped to throw punches and defend. The only place I ever saw it was at a washateria on highland near chimes. I burned my shoulders up on that game.

Not a lot of Arcades in the New Orleans Uptown area. I did lots of bike riding to get to the machines I wanted to play.
I used to hit up a place over in the Riverbend area called The Good Earth. I seem to recall my favorite there being Vanguard.
In the strip mall, there was a Blimpe's that usually had one machine. Thayer's Quest is the one I made special trips over there to play.
Street Car Sandwich Shop had a machine. I played lots of Centipede.
Time Saver at Broadway and Claiborne had Super Pacman, Pole Position and Satan's Hollow.
Once I hit high school I hit the Tuxedo Rental Shop / Aracade on Carrollton and Canal. They had a pile of machines and if you got the high score, you got tickets to rent that awesome purple tux.

The Plaza Lake Forest had TWO arcades!
I remember when Lakeside had video games spread throughout the mall. You could play Pole Position then walk a couple of feet to PacMan. The 80s truly were the greatest decade.

Man vs Snake on netflix is worth a watch. It's about Nibbler and the quest be the first person to score 1 billion points on an arcade game.

I could play defender, joust and asteroids pretty much indefinitely but Tempest was my favorite. No other game has ever put me in a trance like state as much as that one. I’ve read that designer Nolan Bushnell designer it after a fever dream he had.
The sound and feel of an 80s arcade is a happy place I will likely never forget.

Around '88 or '89 or so I had a birthday party in the Alladin's Castle in Southland Mall in Houma. Which meant that I had free play on all the games
best young kid birthday ever!
Although I still loved the Swamp, it always seemed more 'adult' since it was darker and decorated and the "bad" teenagers hung out there

There's an awesome arcade here in Dallas called Free Play that only has the old 80's games. $10 cover gets you in and all the games are free. Excellent bar with craft beers Plus after a certain time no one under 21 is allowed. It's awesome.
