For one we didn’t try to attack Alabama’s strengths

I have to wonder is losing to Troy was intentional so fans would be forced to lower expectations.

what were your expectations for this game?

To have a chance going into the 4th, which sadly didn't happen

Takes time to get the Les Miles mediocrity mentality out of a program.

For fricks sake, last night wasn't even the closest SEC game Alabama played in this season.

And Alabama hadn't been pushed around like they were all season. Take away Jalen Hurts' incredible plays and Etling's interception and the score is a lot closer. Then, if Etling can complete some of his bombs you could be looking at an LSU win.

And you think a Les Miles team would've beaten Auburn? How about Florida?

How quickly do we forget that Miles' team got waxed by Auburn and State in 2014 or lost to a shitty Ole Miss in 2013. How about losing to Alabama, then Arkansas, then Ole Miss in 2015? What about losing to Wisconsin right out the gate using the same exact offense he had been?

State and Troy were the wakeup calls. It woke up the entire program. I'm not comparing Orgeron to Saban but it's extremely reminiscent to UAB in 2000. After that game the program as a whole had to look into the mirror and decide who they want to be. Saban pushed that team hard and it paid off in 2001 when they went to the SECCG.

The same exact thing has happened this season. The team bucked up and decided they were going to play how they should have from the start. There was no quitting. There was no feeling sorry. There was no complacency. Our players didn't even give Alabama credit for winning the game last night and blamed themselves. The culture has completely changed.

I dont think people are happy, rather just looking for a silver lining.

Your expectations were only "met", not exceeded?

Were you a fan of les miles?

All they can handle? They won by 14 and were taking a knee at the end of th game.

We also barely beat a horrid Florida team that just fired its coach, and an Ols Miss team in disarray. Pump the brakes.

9-3 average wasn't acceptable. It isn't acceptable now. The goal is to dethrone Alabama and reclaim the SECw. You're fricking silly if you thought this year was the year for that though.

Auburn was a good win. And it's the only one this team has all year. Beating Florida by one is almost like a loss at this point.

I am not content

But I will say the coordinators called a nice one and put us in a position to be successful

Did you read the rest of the post?

Furthermore, we aren’t on Bamas level anymore, we aren’t. We were, and we can get back, but we aren’t right now.

If you expect to beat them away you’re not being rational. It can happen but smart money says it won’t. So in that case, can we not feel good about having a lot of success and playing better than anyone thought? Or does it have to be the nuclear option all the time?

Of course I'm not happy but I think the program is on the right track. We should be very good next year. And I say this as someone who bashes O routinely.

When he was winning, sure... he needed to go though.

This isn't even a Miles v. O thing for me, it's more along the lines that we've been beaten down by Bama for so many years that the fanbase is just looking for any positive and being ok with that.

Any one thinking that last night was a step forward for this program is blissfully ignorant.

So who thinks that if we swapped head coaches last night that LSU wins?

And LSU absolutely wore them down and gave them a game on both lines of scrimmage. That is a far cry from how it's been since 2012 where LSU typically gets smoked on the OL and collapses at the end. Alabama had great field position almost all game and outside of Jalen Hurts and a few blown coverages they were held in check or in some cases dominated in 1v1 matchups.

After losing to Troy.

Georgia last year was also struggling to beat really shitty teams or losing to them and look at them now.

and an Ols Miss team in disarray

They waxed Ole Miss. They had a handful of fluke plays that allowed them to score and they made it closer with a garbage time touchdown because the defense was completely worn out.

Pump the brakes.

So you're not going to give them ANY credit for beating Auburn? Okay

Oh STFU

O and the staff took over a team with plenty of talent to make noise in the conference.

If there was a consistency with Les Miles, it was never due to lack of talent or players. It was always stubbornness on offense

You better hope O can pull in a top ten class this year. If we don't step up recruiting we won't be beatin Bama or top teams in the future

No. Of course not.

Losing to Troy is absolutely unacceptable and everyone knows that. To say that that is the norm and not just a fluke would be lying though.

For the first time in years, our offense looked capable against Alabama's defense and for the second time under Aranda, our defense was able to hold their own. Our coordinators are in place, we just need a competent QB and some depth in the trenches.
