Apple CEO Says Financing iPhone X Can Work Out to Cost of Just a Few Nice Coffees Per Week

While the iPhone X starts at $999 in the United States, with an even more expensive 256GB model available for $1,149, Apple CEO Tim Cook believes the price can ultimately work out to less than one cup of coffee per day.

On a conference call after Apple reported its fourth quarter earnings results on Thursday, Cook started by saying the iPhone X can be financed for as little as $33 per month at select carriers in the United States.

AT&T, for example, offers the base model iPhone X for 30 monthly payments of $33.34, which works out to exactly $1,000 over that period.

"I think it's important to remember that a large number of people pay for the phone by month," said Cook. "I think you would find you could buy an iPhone X for $33/month. So, if you think about that, that's a few coffees a week -- it's less than a coffee a day at one of these nice coffee places."

People will blast him for it, but he isn't necessarily wrong here. He probably should have kept his mouth shut about it though.

Well it's true. Why should they price it lower when people are going to buy it anyway? This is capitalism. When you allow yourself to become a sheep this is the price you pay.

not to mention the amount of dependability on our phones these days and CONSTANT usage, we more than get our monies worth out of the devices.

I don't understand why people are whining about the price.

Apple sells other, more affordable iPhone models. They even introduced a brand new cheaper phone this year so it's not like I'm talking about older models.

I don't bitch about the prices of Lexus vehicles when I can do just fine with a Toyota.

Why did they skip iPhone 9?

Also, why do people think that the new shite on the iPhone X hasn't been on the last 2 Samsung Galaxy phones?

What are some other suggestions this wise man can offer the financially illiterate who desperately need this product?

Maybe he can advise on how to get better gas mileage. Or to buy store brand food instead of name brand. Or keep the A/C a couple degrees higher.

This system is actually better for consumers. Previously, phone companies charged everyone too much for service and forced 2 year contracts so that they could subsidize the cost of your phone. Now, if you're happy hanging on to your current phone for 4 or 5 years, you're fine to do so, and your plan probably costs less than it did 5 years ago. If you buy an iPhone X and finance it, the cost of the phone plus your plan probably costs about the same as the plan itself costed back when the big carriers were buying the phone for you.

They don't, but they haven't had them in an iPhone before, so it's new to them.

Why does everyone with an Android feel the need to piss on Apple's iPhone parade? You guys are like atheists and vegans.

Avocado toast with pickled red onions, capers, and fresh cracked black pepper with a cold drip black iced coffee with chickory and a good book on a cool patio is the perfect way to start a Sunday morning.

I think everyone uses the coffee analogy these days.

Want to go on a better vacation? Just skip that Starbucks and save up.

For just the price of a few coffees a week, you can sponsor a child in Kenya!

For just the price of a coffee a week, you can have great life insurance.

At some point you run out of fricking coffee.
