Are there any good Steel Shotgun Shell deals out there right now? Need to buy a couple cases of 3" #4s. Checked Rogers and MacksPW and a couple other sites, didnt see any bargains like you see occasionally.

In my experience, you have to stay on top of the sale circulars and online deals. They'll sell out of the mainstream ammo quick, but sometimes the stuff on a deal are the promo suck loads anyway. If you see what you want on sale, be ready to purchase- opportunity favors the prepared.

Academy has monarch steel shot this year for pretty cheap, but I haven't shot them or know anyone who has.
$8.99/box
I started shooting Rio steel shot in the last year or two I got at Simmons for cheap case prices and like it.
In a pinch, I usually just grab a couple boxes of Winchester Xpert Steel at Walmart if I need shells the next day.

what's best shot size for ducks for novice shooter? 3's? 4's?

4's or 2's
I shoot 2's exclusively but a lot of my friends shoot BB's
2-3/4 #2 is a good all around load

Simmons has a big sale that I think is still going on. Get em shipped to you and still cheaper than store prices

2's, 3's or 4's. I shoot 2's on field hunts where it's more wide open and you may get to shoot at geese. I shoot 4's if I'm in the timber shooting wood ducks, grey's or mallards relatively close.
Lot's of people shoot 3's because it just falls as a good in betweener, but 3's are hard to find without ordering them specifically. And when you do find them at a box store, a lot of people buy them out just to stock up.

I always find the best deal online at Rogers

2 years ago I found a great deal on Hevi-Steel. They were great shells. Got Federals last year and hated them compared to the hevi-steels.

I buy from Midway every February/March. They always have great deals on steel shot around that time

I bought a case of 3" #2 hevi-metal and have been super impressed. Was $229/case and then had a $50 mail in rebate to ended up $179 for the case. I love those shells. Noticed a significant increase in crumpling and decrease in cripples.
For straight up steel, Kent is a great load. Should be able to find a case for around $130-140.
As far as size, based on ballistics out past 30 yards, #2 is the superior load, no question.
If you're timber shooting woodies or mallards over decoys, anything will do.
