Because we put out a bowl so we could go out and trick-or-treat with the kids ourselves. Before we even leave the house some 10-15 year old Land rover SUV with 30+ inch rims pulls all the way up into our driveway. 4 children jump out along with the fat female driver and her fat female co-pilot. Children get candy then the two "adults" proceed to empty the bowl into their walmart bags. And there was another shite SUV pulls up right behind them.
We shut down Halloween for good and haven't done it since. Nothing but people from OTHER neighborhoods driving around.
Wouldn't suck so bad if they would park and walk the area, but they just want to take all the free candy.
Now WE bus ourselves to other areas (where we have friends) to enjoy a traditional experience.

I'm sure I'm not the only baw in here that lives/lived in the Heights in Houston. We got thousands of trick or treaters in our neighborhood when I lived there. Nearly all came from another area. I didn't mind and I understood why, but that shite got expensive. Lots of cool costumes, though.

I get the anger at people that abuse the system, at teenagers not in costume demanding candy, etc. But what about those parents who are doing the best they can and working hard and are still stuck in poverty? Instead of getting so angry and spewing such hatred...couldn't you instead just be thankful you live in a safe neighborhood with your family?
If you were poor and had a child, but lived in an unsafe neighborhood, what would you do for them on Halloween?
Appeal to emotion is never a good look. Why should my parents have to buy an additional 20 dollars of candy for trick or treaters who have to be driven in only because it's an upper middle class neighborhood?

I think a good majority hate thugs and criminals. It isn't their fault a certain demographic has a way higher rate of criminals than others.
