I got it. This is solid. It's really more detailed in that I've broken it down between offense and defense.

Ready?

Here it is...

Offense:
1. Score more points.

Defense:
2. Don't let them score as many points as us.

Have to go back to 2011 on our last 9-6 win in Bama to see what our DEF did plus implement Canada's game plan for the next 2 weeks. Make Bama earn everything and watch those paid refs closely.

generally speaking. i laid out specifics. my gameplan is specific for bama. read it again. take away their best TWO things. runs between tackles and horizontal passes. make them beat us with vertical passes. I did film study and i scouted what worked for Ut and what did not work. i laid it out above.

problem is we will prolly get mauled on both LOS anyway so even the best gameplan won't matter if our lines crumble.

I only laid out the defensive gameplan. we all know what the offensive plan is and i doubt we can do it because we have not done it all year. control clock with a controlled pass game and IF bama squats on short routes go over the top. can we execute that? we know canada will try to stretch them running but what about passing?

Obviously we must win this game with defense. I feel as we must do what they been doing us for the last 5 years.

Stack the box with 8/9/10 men. Make their WRs beat us in 1 on 1 coverage. Only way to win this game is if we make Hurts throw the ball. If Bama is able to run the ball 40+ times we have no chance.

We need to just go with our big packages on D. Have Phillips and Devin White in the middle. Bring John Battle down as an extra LB. Grant up top with whichever 2 CBs Aranda wants on the outside.

Let Devin White spy Hurts on passing downs. He can run with him. And you live with what happens when they pass down field.

On the other hand, offense still have to score atleast 10 points to win

yep. exactly what i said and laid out. you have to make hurts throw VERTICALLY. he can kill you HORIZONTALLY which is why we need safty help up on outside maybe double teaming WR's on possible down and distance estimates depending on bamas formations especially if 4 wide.

yep. especially when we only rush 4. when we blitz with 6 we need 5 in coverage to cover 5 possible receivers in man so there will be no spy then. we must get to him or disrupt his timing and accuracy. Ut did this for awhile.

LSU simply is NOT beating Bama.

Is this how you live your life too? To give up THAT easy. What a pussy. Let's not even play the game then and forfeit. It's called any given Sunday (Saturday) for a reason. Has Bama broke your spirit THAT bad? With that mindset, might as well crawl under a rock...pathetic.

On another note IMO, LSU will need to load the box but not bring pressure straight up the front (sit back). If they bring pressure/blitz through the A/B gaps, then this will give Hurts the ability (and running lanes) to scramble. What they need to do is similar to what they did with Manziel. Contain the edges, White spying on Hurts at all times, discipline when filling the gaps, and most importantly...load the box behind the DL, but have them stay there and fill any gaps. With the edges contained and gaps filled, Hurts will have to beat them through the air. This gives us our best chance at winning. If you blitz a QB like Hurts, he will make you pay with his legs.

nah. i would not even play cover 1 unless it is 3rd and a 20 or something. not sure we can afford it. cover 0 all day. safeties down in box OR on outside to defend horizontal passes. with 2 safeties down low we can double team TWO receivers often in passing plays or use them ob blitzes or just to defend runs. formation and down and distance will dictate what we do.

Sorry about the long post, but I wanted to share what a longtime friend and HUGE Bama fan sent me this am. He is an unvarnished, studious fan of the game...unlike those that call-in to PF. For what it's worth:

"For LSU it all comes down to QB play. He doesn't have to play like Tom Brady...but he has to be effective and efficient and back our LBs and Safeties' off the LOS. If that happens, Guice and your RBs will have creases to gain yards. If not, that is how Bama smothers teams. Right now I think we are a bit overrated because of the competition we have played so far. A&M was the only game that was tough, and to be honest it was more us just sucking arse on offense than it was them being good. We are more than beatable this year...and this is why. Our DL is super super thin. Our best end, Hand, has been out since Ole Miss with a meniscus. Word is we 'might' have him back for our game, but he won't be 100% or game ready. The loss of our top 2 rush outside linebackers for the season against FSU is significant and you would have to be someone who watches every game closely to notice. We have had to dial up CB and safety blitzes to create pressure on the QB without those guys...so when they are picked up, we get burned downfield.

Now the real reason we are beatable is the blueprint has been set for the last two years on how to slow down our offense. Tennessee did it for almost the entire first half, but didn't have the athletes on either side of the ball to complete the deal. You simply stack 8 in the box, slow down our running game and make Jalen Hurts throw. I love Jalen....he is a winner and a gamer....can break a play open with his legs like there is no other...but he 1) can't read defenses ...cannot go through progressions, 2) He tucks the ball if his only read isn't open, and often gets taken down at the LOS, and 3) his arm is actually below average. You know other than the last few years the trend is always the away team getting the best in our series. I'm certain this will be a TIGHT game and I think LSU has a great chance of winning. I won't be surprised....."

not if it is a disciplined rush. go watch the UT game.

you cannot afford to spy him all game. he will kill you actually IF YOU DO NOT BLITZ with his legs which is why you need a spy when 4 rush. tough for 4 guys to contain him outside plus fill a/b gaps between tackles. you spy him with just a 4 man rush and drop 6 into man allowing one WR to be double teamed. LB can play zone/spy following hurts a few yards off LOS.

I really hope and pray that we beat the Gumps, but after 5 years I can't get my hopes up anymore. I will believe it when I see it, BUT we must beat Bama soon to get back to where we belong.

If the game is close, the SEC REFS will never allow it to happen. You can bank on it. LSU may cover the spread, but there will be critical calls to favor Bama.

Turnover ratio of +1 or better

Win field position battle / battle of punters

Zero personal foul penalties

Zero penalties on punt / kickoff returns (absolute killers)

Zero missed FG's (we love Connor Culp!)

Get creative in spying Hurts on some 3rd downs with #40; then drop him into coverage on other 3rd downs

Trust young secondary in man coverage on 1st and 2nd downs - must stop the run on 1st and 2nd downs - take chances with overloading box if necessary

Etling must be efficient and hit the open throws

Creative and aggressive play calling - throw on 1st down run on 3rd down type stuff

One very successful trick play (HB pass, fake Punt, etc)

Running that coverage is a long run waiting to happen. RB gets past the 2nd level, then there’s literally no one in his way.

and sitting back in cover 2 is worse. watch Ut game again. Look, we will have to take risks if we want any chance to win. sitting back won't do it. Yeah if they break through a 8 or 9 man box it is a long run also. They will also have a long pass play if we do not help on outside for horizontal passes.we have no choice though. If we first do not stop their north-south run game we are left 4 dead anyway and the rest is just icing on the cake.

bama could really kill us if they are in shotgun 4 wide and run on us between tackles which is very possible. it is a deadly formation that makes you defend pass and run. when we put help on outside with safeties in that formation we are at risk in the box then with us spread out and more running lanes. we just have to try to keep down and distance in our favor and hope we read formations correctly and hope we play averages right. it will be a monumental task anyway we slice it.

When you factor in the refs, they will do what ever is needed to secure victory for Bama if it looks like we pose a threat. Worst is that Bama knows it. If three blatunt holds in plane veiw on one play isn't proof, then nothing is.
