Let's just say LSU goes 9-3 this season and finishes with a strong bowl win. Does Matt Canada and Dave Aranda catch the first thing smoking out of Baton Rouge or do they stay knowing the young talent that got experience this year and finish out their contracts. Aranda's names been mentioned(probably not serous) for head coaching jobs.

Since this is an extremely political situation internally, and we don't know what kind of jobs are open, this would have to be completely up in the air right now. There's no way to know. If the right kind of job opens up, either of these would be ripe to leave.

If we finish 9-3, there's potential for a good year next year, but, again, depending on how things are shaping up internally, this may or may not matter.

Canada's 1st year with a huge contract. Aranda into the 1st year of his new contract. Brennan and Narcisse will be sophmores. Good young WRs. A young defense with 2 very good DTs (Shelvin, Fehko) to go with Lawrence and Alexander.

2019 has one of the best Louisiana recruiting classes in years.

Unless they are offered a big promotion, big money or it is just unbearable here they should stay.

This is why many were against the O hire. You will now have to rely on getting top notch coordinators frequently. The offensive coordinator will be a huge problem, because each system will have to be implemented when a new one arrives. This is a prime example of why LSU should always hire a proven commodity at HC. not saying O can't do great, but it's highly unlikely to see a D-line coach all of a sudden become great at scheming on offense.

I think that we keep both of them for 2 more years.

at least one year for both and possibly both. our fanbase has a propensity to be insecure.

we pay these guys TOP dollar. if they think their team will be better next year and they can improve their resume' they ain't going nowhere.

Look we saw a glimpse of the genius of Matt Canada and Dave Aranda in the last game against Auburn. Will we see that again in this Ole Miss game? I certainly hope so. But make no mistake about it, if these two coaches are successful in helping to turn this team around and even beating Bama, trust me the world will come knocking at their door. After seeing that Rally in the Valley last weekend, I'm thinking LSU better start thinking big as in $$$$ big.

In the meantime.....

No one is going to pay either of them what we are paying them to be coordinators and few colleges that would even consider them for HC would be able to pay that kind of money either. That's not to say they wouldn't take a small pay cut for the opportunity to be a HC. Just that no major power 5 team is going to come looking for them as a HC (yet).

If LSU finishes 10-3 and the feeling at the end of the year is that LSU is primed to make a run at the playoff, then I see both staying because it enhances their resume ....especially Canada's. Hopefully Canada can develop Davis and Sullivan more as well as Brennan. I'm not sure he has proven he can develop a QB....he seems to move from year to year.

Maybe Aranda, but why Canada? He's not nearly the proven product Aranda is at this point.

I agree, but I am not sure Aranda wants to be HC ???
and has a nice salary.

THe bigger question is does Alleva see that he can save $3.5 million by sacking O, taking over as head coach and letting Aranda and Canada do their thing? He already watches film.

Aranda and Canada are gone, an Alleva signs O to a 25 year extension.

I think Aranda has proven more and is closer to being a HC... but... OCs seem to get more heat than DCs.

All things considered, they are making bank right now. It should be hard for them to find an assistant coaching position with a school of equal stature making more than LSU is paying. Heck, the money they're making as assistant coaches is more than the vast majority of colleges pay their head coaches. So, they'd have to be looking for a head coaching position in a top 40-50 school in order to make as much (or more) money.

I think they stick around at least for a year or two--if for no other reason than the imminent implosion of Alleva's Eaux Experiment may open up an interim HC slot at LSU.

Literally lol'd at "heisman"

Still laughing? He's not going to win it. But if he ends of playing special teams and gets some touches near the goal line, he will be mentioned among the heisman candidates.
