Blow out the line with an air compressor.

You may not have one. Some AC drain lines hook into your regular plumbing and drain into the sewer. Mine connects to the drain from a shower in the next room.
As a result, we have to cover the drain to that shower when we blast out the AC line with compressed air. If there is gunk in there, it can hit the ceiling in the shower.

I just went to Lowes in BR and they said they didn't carry those guns. Where should I go to buy one in BR?

With all due respect, you don't really know what you are talking about. "Calling a professional" is completely unnecessary, AC drains get clogged with algae, dirt, etc. routinely and need to be cleaned with something like bleach. As said, an Ac tech will tell you to put a capful of bleach in there about 3-4 times a year. The Ac tech will come out and do the exact same procedure, it's not a symptom of something else it's the symptom of exactly that.
How do you pour bleach down it? My AC drain line comes straight from the blower/motor box. There is no clean out valve.

I have 0 experience with PVC plumbing
I replaced the trap + piping for my AC unit in about 15 minutes after watching a youtube video. Father in law checked it out and gave it the handy dad approval

Husband did that once with the bleach. Never again, thought we were gonna die from the fumes. The tablets worked great.

Check Home Depot

Home Depot looked at me like I was an alien when I asked for one.

Best thing to do is to get some compressed air and try to blow the line out. That's what my AC guy did and charged me like $150 to do so. I felt like an idiot.

Is the A/C drip pan the secondary drain? Meaning, for it to fill up, the primary drain (usually drains to a nearby sink) is clogged...

I haven't had any issues for a long time with my A/C but last night the system shut off and I saw the drip pan was full.
It must be this awful humidity but this happened at my house and my bosses house last night too.

Pouring bleach down the line will etch and eat the PVC. Once it is etched it gives the algae something to grip to and the problem will just get worse and worse making it easier for the algae to take hold.

Still can't find one of those damn guns anywhere in town.
Posted on 10/11/17 at 12:19 pm to King of New Orleans
If it doesn't clear it out find the drain, usually it's under a bathroom sink.
Put an air compressor in the hose at the AC and blow it out.
Mine did this a few years back, I cut the drain pipe and duct taped the compressor hose inside then glued it back together

If you're going to blow it out, do so from the pan outward. I use a shop vac with the cone shaped attachment like someone said earlier and suck it out from the outside. Works like a charm.

I'm sorry for sounds like a total beta but where is the drain line outside?
Look for a short pipe (usually there are two) jutting from the house about 18" off the ground. There is USUALLY a drain pipe coming from your AC pan and a twin coming from the overflow pan around your hot water heater. Shop vac both out.

I am so getting one of these drain guns. It's one of things that will actually make me look forward to the drain getting stopped up....ok, may not.

The drain line outside, usually it just runs from secondary pan to outside. But it might be better to have a hvac expert answer this
