Said on radio...Detillier stated Orgeron did not care what his salary was but he wanted a significant buyout due to lessons he learned at USC. Detillier also implied that Orgeron worked over Alleva in the contract negotiations.

Very interesting comments. It would be a red flag to me if the person I was hiring was more interested in what they would be paid NOT to coach, rather than what they would be paid to coach.

Where does this sound familiar?

Alleva had the upper hand. All you have to say is, who else is offering? Yeah that's what I thought.

If true, merely confirms that Alleva is a reactionary pussy.

Because he expected himself to suck and wanted to get paid when the inevitable happened.

Orgeron got his retirement payday, that rat bastard. That cuyon is probably tanking on purpose so he can live out his days in a nice camp down the bayou with his sha.

And that is exactly why Orgeron believes that Alleva is the greatest AD he has worked for. He is the only one dumber than Orgeron himself.

I take this as 100% truth because Detillier used to run with O back in the day.

That's when Alleva SHOULD have said "ok Orgeron, I'm going to counter offer a 2 tiger dog buyout, what you think about that?"

wow.... so he is mailing it in.

no reason to give him a buyout. none. he should have no leverage. why didn't alleva get upset with him and move on over it...

The problem isn't even giving him the buyout....

It's the rational in the first place. How is that even logical?

"You should secure my payment because I learned good at USC."

Has anyone ever negotiated a salary based on "I learned some lessons,"?

To play devils advocate it’s reasonable for O to be worried about the buy out. He knew at the first stumble people would be calling for his job. The buyout gives him job security.

Smart on O’s part to be worried about a buy out dumb on Alleva’s part to let him have it.

Of course he did. He knows he sucks and would be on the hot seat.

I'm convinced he's trying to get fired because it's easier that actually being a good coach. .
