What was the first gun you purchased yourself?
Mine was a 1963 Browning Auto-5 in 16ga with a Polychoke. I was 16 and wanted a shotgun like my dad's. Saved my yard mowing money and bought it at a Pawnshop for $275. Sold it many years later to buy a new 870 Supermag because I thought I needed to shoot 3.5's to kill ducks. I was an idiot. Still regret that decision.

I think the first I ever bought myself was my first pistol. S&W SD40. It looked cool, was cheap, and I didn't know any better. I still have it in the safe. Havent touched it in years.

I bought this snub-nose 357 for $125 from a guy I worked with when I was 18 in 1990. It's been riding in my vehicle ever since.

Mossberg 835 3.5" 12 ga.
I was 15 and bought it over the counter at walmart for $212. No back ground checks back in the early/mid 90's.

Glock 17 or Benelli Nova. I don't remember which one I bought first.

Actually it was just recently. I've had a shotgun for forever that was a Christmas present. A couple of months ago I bought a Steyr M9-A1 because I woke up one day and wanted a handgun.

Browning Gold Stalker in 2000. Like the OP, I thought I needed to be able to shoot 3.5s to kill ducks. Turns out, I just needed to shoot better.

First gun I bought was a Remington 870 Wingmaster 26" barrel, black synthetic stock. Bought it from a guy in 10th grade for $100. Used if for about 10 years or so. I beat the shite out of that gun, and it was still working the day I sold it.

Remington 7600 .270 from a pawn shop in 1984, after I passed down a Savage 30/30 pump to my brother.

9th grade a buddy wanted to sell a model 10 S&W .38 with a 4" barrel. I asked how much and he replied $20.00.
I still have that pistol. It was the only pistol I owned for many many years.
