Impingement of the root can cause of it as well as narrowing of the foramina. Subarticular is another word for it.

He didn't describe his symptomology as severe and dire as necessitating surgery, but you're still giving me 75-100 for it

Oh, if I had it, I would make sure it was considered surgical in the settlement negotiations. I'm just not sure I'd actually go through with the surgery, after I settled, in lieu of purchasing that bass boat.

No thats the spinal canal. Which doesnt matter so much since your spinal cord ends around L1, only nerve roots lower than that, they dont need much space in the spinal canal

Festus and I are just joking with one another because of what we do for a living.

Ask you doctor to explain to your what your MRI means and what your options are going forward.

You can also google some of the phrases you see in the report and they'll have pictures explaining it.

I do MRIs for a living. Lay flat on your back on the floorwith your legs propped up on the couch. Also. You might want to look at steroid injections in your back to that specific spot. A pain management dr can do it for u.

Yes. There is also mention of the foramen. You have a very tight space for the nerve to escape the spinal column without being harrassed. They can't always "see" nerve impingement, but if you have pain down your leg, you have it.

"Sciatica" (overused, vague term) is really nothing more than a radiculopathy. Something is touching the nerve.

Also try sleeping with a pillow between your knees. And the laser spine institute is doing awesome things for that problem if the steroids don't work. Back surgery would be my very last option.

Go see Dr. Ken Vogel. He will do a discogram and 12 level lumbar fusion immediately after. Then see your lawyer and get you $250k or so.

I've been seeing a pain doctor for a couple of months. He ordered the Mri. I am seeing a physiatrist Monday.

I'm on the old side of middle age. I herniated a disk in the summer of 2012; treated via chiropractor and spinal decompression. Took a while but got better, even to normal for my age. Then aggravated it summer'16. Treated via Airrosti (soft tissue manipulation and highly recommended if any near you).

Few notes and questions:
a) What's your age group?
b) Would stretches help him? If so, takes time but if you can do the right stretches you may be able to heal without shots or surgery.
c) Candidates for back surgery are screened better now. IOW, you can find out if you're a good candidate or not.

Best wishes and God bless. Back pain is a pain.
