Death will be just like the year 1902 for all of us.

“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.”

-Marcus Aurelius-

i lost my dad in February. He was 64 and it was pretty sudden. He was the rock of our family. I hang on to the hope that i will see him again.

The problem with this whole thing is that it assumes that atheists automatically go to hell (which doesn't exist either).

If God wants to send me to hell for being how he made me to be and trying to live a good and generous life then frick him anyway. I guess it isn't too different than that Marcus Aurelius quote.

Riddle me this, we all want to see our "Loved" ones. What if we aren't the "ones" they loved? J/S

Even better: What if Paw-paw misses eight year old you that he loves and remembers from right before he died but thinks 60 year old you that shows up on his doorstep in heaven is an insufferable twat?

Neither...if Jesus is a reliable source.

I don't believe it though.

No. We may be united in death, but when you're dead, you're dead.

1. Next lifetime, sure

2. 50/50 how my 4 grandparents did when they stood at the pearly gates (metaphor for lifetime in relative light. They are back on earth. Except for grandmother on moms side, who was already an angel on earth. What a great blessing.
Mom's dad iffy.
Moms mom is in.
Dads dad is likely in.
Dads mom iffy.

Being buddhist, i am of expectation to get infinite do-evers, each dragging karmas along, with my tendencies and spiritual "abilities" governing my each next lifetime.
