so soon. Every coach has a bad game and the Moo State game certainly qualifies, but the hand wringing among the fan base is ridiculous. LSU is very young and this is the staffs first year together so give it time. O's got this so chill.

Agree and Disagree
Very true people are jumping the gun about O. Give it time and we shall see.
But:
We still lost by 30 which is completely inexcusable.

This is because most see O as a bad hire. The worst loss to MSU in school history only validates that so far. O has to prove his $3.5 mil worth

I'm so surprised that so many of you fail to see what an awful hire he was. I really don't get it.

There is a loud group of a few people who act like LSU went toe-to-toe with the '85 Bears, and lost a close one.

But we all know what happened, and it's pretty damning. Mississippi State made us quit early in the third quarter. It's not unreasonable to be concerned with the direction of our program.

Given the number of freshmen in this team you can not blame everything on coaches. Dave Aranda was considered the best DC in the country even by posters on this board, he can not become that bad overnight. If we have good coaches we need to see steady improvement in every game for the rest of the season. In December these freshmen are practically sophomores and there should not be any excuse for making costly mistakes.

You have a bunch of kids on here that know it all and were just waiting for the opportunity to melt. Acting exactly like a bunch of teenage girls.

Everytime I try to chill as you say, I can't help but think how this past Saturday night looked so much like the Ole Miss teams that Orgeron led to win 3 sec games. Really makes me worry.

Most realistic fans predicted 2 maybe 3 losses given all the issues with this team. Ms St was not one of those. I will admit after Saturday's performance, my confidence in Orgeron dropped dramatically. He may well be in over his head and the 2 great coordinators model could be a colossal mistake. Time will tell.

I haven't given up but I did not like what I saw in that last game. I stretched my patience as far as it could go with Miles, I can't do it again for another 5 years. We scored 7 against freaking Moo State!

Again, I haven't given up on him but he's definitely on thin ice.

Assuming that someone "gave him a chance" and began with a neutral opinion of him, I fail to see how someone could be overly encouraged by what we've seen thus far.

We beat up on two bad teams and got crushed by an OK team. Why would a disinterested onlooker look at that and have a positive opinion of his coaching job thus far?

O and Aranda have been together awhile now, it's not a new defensive scheme.

Etling, Guice and Chark are not young. Etling is a serviceable 5th yr Sr, Guice is a Jr and a preseason All American, and Chark is a Sr. All are returning starters. O-line depth is thin, but there are returning starters from a supposed good line last year, and the O line coach remains the same.

I highly doubt Miss St is great, they are about an average team, and will have their share of SEC losses. I wouldn't be surprised if they finish around 4-4 in the SEC. Maybe less. They went 5-7 last year.

And they mauled us.

But it isn't. 3 coaches changed from the offensive side of the ball. Everyone else, the entire defensive staff, was here last year. They recruited these players.

O is a bad coach. It only took 3 games (and his first game against a real opponent) for that to be put on full display. He was a mistake.

I haven't but I'll admit I have been very critical due To many factors. Huge game in his inaugural season and the Sec opener. His team looked overwhelmed and that's alarming to say the least. He's had last year and an off-season to prepare his team. He impressed me last year but taking over another coaches team and rallying the troops is much different than taking over as the Ceo. He's proven twice he can take over a team but he's failed at running his own. I hope he turns it around I'm pulling for him

LSU would have never, ever hired a HC with a record of 10-25 (only 2 of those wins came against teams with a winning records both 7-5) and of the 25 losses 15 were double digits.

If O's name was John Smith and he was born in Des Moines, Iowa he would not have sniffed this job.

So for many you must begin with the premise he was a bad hire.

We are talking about a coach who has no track record of success beating good teams. (Only 2 wins against better than .500 teams as a HC)

And his losses 15 of the 25 were double digit blowouts.

Additionally his SEC record was 3-21.

Despite that he is our coach. And in his first conference game as our coach??--an historic loss to Moo State. He is not exactly building trust with fans.

Is it possible 3-21 isn't really 3-21 and 10-25 isn't really 10-25 and .300 winning % coach is really a good coach? Maybe. But honestly would you bet your life on it?

Isn't more likely that O is what he is? A great guy, a stellar DL coach a great recruiter but just doesn't have what it takes to be a successful HC?

It's like everyone was kissing his arse the first couple games to wanting him sent to North Korea 24 hours later. Unreal. How many passes did Leslie get?
