How do you hire a guy who went 3-21 in the same division?

He went 3-21 in SEC-W. He was the worst coach ever for a division rival with a lesser reputation. You were picking him to replace a man who had gone 19-3 in the same league, in the same division and won a national championship,a SEC championship, two SEC-W titles and 2 BCS bowl wins. Since that period (2005-2007), no other college team had given him a second look as head coach.
When, Curley Hallman was hired he had a better record at Southern Miss, than O had at Ole Miss. Hell, Curley had a better record at LSU than O had at Ole Miss.
Please note that Curley had to deal with Proposition 48 passed by NCAA, in 1986. Louisiana high schools were not geared for proposition 48 in the late 80s and early 90s.

Joe cares more about his ego than the program. His job was to basically get Herman and didnt like that Herman was trying to get the most money.
We settled on O instead of the better coach due to Joe

For starters you fire your current coach in SEPTEMBER.. that never made sense... I said that day, whoever they hired as the interim would be the next head coach (thought it was likely to be Aranda)... should have fired miles after the AL game and then we could have had a real search with the interim in the way

We're reduced to making excuses for one Hudson Hallman.
That's where we're at right now.

Thanks for all of the old information that everyone already knows. I was hoping another thread would get started.

I would have hired Curly Hallman over O. That's how bad this hire is. I never thought I would ever say this, in the 2nd half of the State Game I actually wished Les Miles was still our coach.

How do you make a post that has been made 20 times the last 3 days?

But the CheeriOs said his record is irrelevant, Ole Miss is just a shite program, he's changed, blah blah...

Alleva said that people learn more through losing. Being a historic level failure is now a desirable qualification.

The mother fricker still never won in Starkville. Hell He never won a SEC Road Game as a Head Coach.

Funny he said that but I bet anything any other coach with O's record would not have been given the job.

The normal thought process behind that is it gives you extra time to put feelers out to land a home run big name hire.
I dont know what the F Alleva did

Les' boys were never this un-prepared and they did not throw in the towel so quickly. The man's scheme might have been outdated, but his boys played their hearts out for him.

I wish there had been demonstrations on the LSU campus with people asking the same fricking question last November, but instead we just bent over as Alleva shoved O up our arse.

Can you give us evidence that this is truly the case? I'd like to understand how this hire, which everyone knew could/would happen ended with Orgeron as the 'winner'. That was a complete embarrassment. Again, it is a reflection of whoever is running LSU athletics. They are either incompetent or are harming the program intentionally. Either way, it spells difficulty for the foreseeable future.

Les's players would have ripped off their left arm for the mad hatter.

and its not like we had from last sept/oct to get this thing right.
anyone with a half a brain knew that with the way 2015 ended, miles leash was as short as alleva's foresight. a list of 10 candidates should have been made november 2015, and behind the scene feelers should have started then. not 1 guy, and when he declines, lets go with the emotional O.
