- kaep and others taking a knee

The NFL has never been more profitable. This ratings issue is more of an indictment of traditional (read: archaic) rating systems than a measure of the effectiveness of boycotts.
Consumers are finding lots of different ways to watch games these days: HD antennas, ESPN apps, TV streaming services, Kodi, etc.. Until the ratings compilers figure out how to account for cord cutters, the ratings will appear to fall for every event.

I would say so. ESPN overpaid by multiple millions over the next bidder to secure the televised rights.
But what happens when ESPN and NBC and CBS stop paying so much? They are the ones taking it in the nuts. When a sponsor doesn't buy airtime, they fall further behind in their profit projections. (When you see a network promo over and over during a program, that means they failed to sell the spot.)
I remember SEC fans thought CBS would pay through the nose when their TV contract's look-in came up, but CBS held fast and did not.
I think their stockholders will demand fiscal prudence and sanity.
Edit: And in the process, football salaries will suffer. They are killing the goose that laid the golden egg (again -- see baseball strike).

I was like biggest Mavs fan. Never missed a game. Now, I saw not one single game of NBA last year. I live in DFW area. Cowboys played this weekend. I used to watch every game. Same with the Saints. Lived and died with them. Played fantasy for ten years. Now? I really don't care. I didn't see a single game. Didn't miss it. Very telling.

A whopping 40% of those people said that Kaepernick was their reason for tuning out the league, while 53% said it was the league-wide protests as a whole that had them turning off the television.
The reason was especially prominent in people 55 and over.

I'm just thinking out loud here: but why hasn't the NFL ever addressed the fans' concerns/complaints about the game? Does the league have their heads buried that far into the sand that they don't even realize that people are pissed off and tired of their shite? Do they know and just not give a frick because the money keeps rolling in?

Aside from the Super Bowl I watched one NFL game last year for a bit and watched part of the Saints game a few days ago. I am done for the season watching that shite.
