The "Chapter One" nonsense was a little heavy handed.

really loved the first 3/4 of the movie but thought it kind of stumbled in the sewer scene. Wish they wouldn't have changed the final cosmic battle involving a turtle with galaxies swimming in its fingernails for a bunch of kids beating the frick out of a clown with sticks but I'll take what I can get.

They knocked it out of the park. fricking nailed it.

The kids were awesome. Richie and Eddie were funnier than in the books. The one-liners had the whole theater rolling.

"Derry was an old beaver trap.."

"Still is. Am I right boys!"

Just saw it. frick the guy who left a red balloon at the theater exit. God dammit.

ETA: I enjoyed it. My gf tried to get me to leave because she was so scared lol. She hates scary movies though.

FWIW, there was a little bit of a round of applause lol, I saw it at Northpark in Dallas. Thought that was kind of cheesy, but whatever.

I liked it. Pennywise was ok, I still prefer Tim Curry's version. Everything else about the movie was better than the mini series.

Just saw It. I read the book over the last 3 weeks to know the real story. I'm glad I did to notice some of the details picked up in the movie. I enjoyed the hell out of the movie. I thought most of the kids were great. The one liners were great. Richie was hilarious and they had great chemistry. My only real complaint is there was too much Pennywise early in the movie. There should have been more build up and Losers bonding. I think Bev was a little too tough. Oh and the Bowers storyline was kinda fricked too.

Just go to out and IT was absolutely superb. Scary, funny, touching, and wonderfully acted. A great story brought to life properly for the big screen. Even if you aren't a horror fan, you should still see this movie.

Loved it. I've never read the book and I saw the mini series years ago, so I didn't remember the details of the story. I thought it was kind of a mix of Stranger Things and Nightmare on Elm Street. Great characters and development. They did a good job establishing the group of kids and the comradery between them was great. A movie about a goofy clown could easily be a joke, but this was better than anything I could have expected. I'm sure a lot of credit is on Stephen King for the original story, but well done putting it on film. I can't wait for the sequel.

I saw it last night and loved it. It was a packed theater and some of those folks were really freaking out. I look forward to Chapter 2.

I thought the film was entertaining and accomplished what it set out to do. A solid effort from the cast and crew.

B+

Went to see it this afternoon. I was really pleased. It had a perfect vibe between a coming of age comedy/drama mixed with classic horror. Like a way more intense Monster Squad or Ernest Scared Stupid. Stand By Me meets Nightmare on Elm Street. I think this going to end up being a must-watch every Halloween season. My only regret was that I wished I would have waited to go see it on a Sunday afternoon that the Saints were playing, to cut down on the triple XL jersey types that didn't have anything to do today but try to make jokes and obnoxious screams during the jump-scares.

saw it this weekend. it was okay, but nothing great. the kids were all awesome, especially Beverly and the "gazebo" kid well-made in most areas. loved the setting. the only bad actor was Bill's dad, that garage scene was horrible "He's DEAD, ALRIGHT? DEAD"

it just really didn't deliver on the scares. they were all predictable jump scares and they all whiffed. the georgie scene was easily the most horrifying given the armless writhing in the water.

did anyone else think the CGI sucked arse? like wtf. and there were a few things that were CGI that couldve easily been practical, like the balloon floating through teh library.

i wanted to cry when the fat kid had no signatures in his yearbook

Fukunaga's version would've been infinitely better.

From reddit:

quote:

"I'm working on making the horror more about suspense than visualization of any creatures. I just don't think that's scary. What could be there, and the sounds and how it interacts with things, is scarier than actual monsters."

then later when he dropped: "I was trying to make an unconventional horror film. It didn't fit into the algorithm of what they knew they could spend and make money back on based on not offending their standard genre audience". Sounds way more interesting.

just not sure muschietti was the guy for this. good camerawork and atmosphere, but 0 scares. the climax was terrible too. they take turns beating the clown, seriously?

What was up with them giving away all the scares in the previews/commercials? Every scare (except for the full projector scene) was spoiled. Still a great movie

I wanted so badly for this movie to be scary, but I got nothing. Hell, there was a little kid laughing at all the scary parts in my theater. It was a good movie and the kids were great, but it wasn't scary. I was a bit disturbed when It bit off Georgie's arm though.

Wow, I fricking LOVED that movie.
I'd never read the book or watched the original movie.

Very scary, without making me feel disgusted for watching the screen.

I really wish more horror movies made me care about the characters like this one does.
