I guess so. But where they did they cross??
I dunno, but it looks like she's going to start giving swamp tours instead of babysitting. I'd like to know how she wound up there too.

She must have had sprint or tmobile. What 20 year old doesn't have their phone on them at all times?

Holy shite. Rock on. So glad this had a happy ending.

This is the only crossing I see LINK
how she got here? Maybe the pipeline southwest of that acted as a canal due to the flooding. Drifted though the woods into that, floated north towards the larger canal and eventually into Lake Martin
or her boyfriend picked her up for a night out, dropped her and the canoe off in Lake Martin this morning and its all a cover up

Yeah but there's a road between that canal and the lake, which i guess could have been covered with water, but they would have never seen through the trees and bushes to see the lake to get to it.

Yeah that canal doesn't run to LM from what I see...I'm anxious to hear the full story on this.

This may also be a case of the media failing to properly communicate. Search team says they were found in the Lake Martin area or near Lake Martin, and the media says "Girls were found in Lake Martin".

I don't think she made it all the way to Lake Martin, although there is a channel that cuts through there. My bet is that they got turned around in the flooded woodland and when they came on the channel she made the decision to just follow the channel to wherever it took them. That is a good strategy if turned around in a relatively small swamp. The channel took them probably to the roadway where they were found. This will probably be revised to "Lake Martin area."
While the babysitter may have lost her job, you've got to give her credit for keeping the child safe overnight in that environment. Little decisions become very important decisions. There are a million gators and snakes out there.

News just said "near Lake Martin".

That road is high and dry. I was on it the other day.

Story just has something fishy about it. How could they not find them in that small area yesterday? How did the babysitter not have her phone?
They should both be completely covered in mosquito bites today.

Thought about that earlier. Yikes.

They took the canoe out at 5:15 or so on what they thought was a 2 acre lake. If the parents weren't coming home until later, you aren't getting the search on until nighttime.

Because she was going out in the water on a boat on what she probably thought would be a 20 minute canoe trip around a small lake and didn't want to risk it getting wet.
Some of y'all like to overthink these things way too much.

glad this had a positive outcome.

A 21 year-old female leaving the house without her phone? I think you're way underthinking here, however I would agree with you if we knew this girl to be a responsible 21 year-old but I'm doubting that's the case or we wouldn't be having this discussion.

The Google Earth images of that area are a little different - From February of this year when there's less foliage blocking terrain contours. There's some natural drainage feeder tendrils not tar from where they started out. Not too hard to map out a couple high water route possibilities.
