I'm as pro-police as it gets, and that cop needs to not only be fired but get jail time. frick that POS.

I've been in Law Enforcement for a long time and usually I reserve judgement in situations like this. But, I have to ask myself, how can this officer be so stupid?

And alternately, how can someone so stupid be an officer? And why would other officers stand by as this officer knowingly violated the law? Any officer involved should have to find a new career, IMO.

This is what got me. All of them just stood around and watch a blatantly illegal arrest and assault get committed and didn't budge.

So are there any doubts now a national law requiring body cameras is needed?

I don't know if you've been paying attention the last few years.. but taking action gets you killed and police are largely immune to any real repercussions

The nurse is not suing. They showed her on CNN today saying that she is not filing a lawsuit.

That's just as much as a frick up on her part as it was for the cops that went ape shite against her.

That's easy and free money that could set her up for life.

Dumbass.

He can just arrest her because he wants to

Absolutely he can. In fact, that's exactly what he did.

Of course, she would have been set free the same day just like she was IRL. But a cop can make an arrest because he doesn't like the cut of your jib.

Uh, no. You think he had probable cause? That pesky 4th amendment.

Happened a month ago. Read she was trying to work with the Pd to improve training and felt they weren't doing enough and had her lawyer release it.

Sigh. You're still not getting it. He didn't have probable cause in the video either but he still arrested her didn't he?

A cop needs PC in order for it to be a lawful arrest and for it to stand up in a courtroom. Not having it just means it won't stand and you'll be set free, maybe very quickly just like the nurse. And if the reason is unlawful he may or may not get in trouble for it, just like this guy.

But there is absolutely nothing stopping him from telling you that you're under arrest and cuffing you for any reason he likes. You'd better not resist either.

patient under arrest,
that should not be enough to get a blood sample for someone unconscious. That doesn't meet requirements of 4th amendment.

Sure. But this applies to everything. I can murder you, steal from you, detain you.. it's just illegal and there are serious consequences.

Let's put you in the spot, since you are in the same profession.

How would you have reacted if you were in that nurse's exact position? Would you yield to the police officer or insisted on following protocol?

If you chose the latter and was arrested just like that lady was, would you sue?

That appears to be a busy place. Anywhere with a burn unit has to be pretty damned busy. I bet you I could find numerous places to be once that cop put on his prick suit. Plenty of other patients in there would "need me"!

Once cuffs came out I'd have to ask that cop if he had any ICU experience because he now had two patients to take care of. frick stick.

That's another legit angle to this story. You pulled a critical care nurse away from patients. You've possibly endangered the lives of people in the hospital by creating an immediate shortage.
