Randy Livingston was the man! But I do remember playing Lester Earl several times, he couldn't shoot but still was a beast. For any of you who played AAU ball in the mid to late 90's you may recall the Louisiana Breeze. They were coached by Sid Edwards. They ended up winning the AAU National Championship in Vegas. This team was absolutely loaded! Everyone on that team (13 players) signed D1 scholly. Lester Earl, Corey Powell, Tiger Womack, Kendrick Sprull (sp?), Derrick Jones. They were ridiculous. I wish I could remember who else was on that squad. I remember every time we played them or were in the same tournament the crowd was just full of scouts. It was really cool to watch them play, or to play against them, lol!

Who did you play for? I played with Atchafalaya, and we played those dudes several times. But I don't remember them being called the Breeze. Damn, it's been a while.

I had the opportunity to watch Joe Dumars play most of his games when he was in high school. Joe was a good scorer but he was not the defensive player he was in the pros. His senior year Natchitoches Central had a very good team and they were defeated in the quarter finals in Prather Coliseum when Don Redden hit a shot from mid court with time running out. Dale Brown wanted to recruit Joe and came to several games that year but there was a guard who's name I can't remember from Baton Rouge that ended up getting the scholarship.

He was very good. Quick on his feet, good defense, good hands.

Joe defensive skills improved when he was at McNeese. They improved dramatically with Pistons as that was his role on the team.
Very nice guy, glad his career went so far and is still associated with the game.

Some other members were 7'0 300 lb. Roy Candley of Capitol for a year and finished at Baker High who would end up at Ok. State, Freddie Bryant of Live Oak HS who went to Old Dominion, Zach Ray of Woodlawn HS who went to Nicholls, Dino and Greedy Daniels of Cohen HS in NOLA(unsure of college), Tony Cole of Glen Oaks then Georgia and Rhode Island, Willie Davis from Port Barre who was only a freshman on that team and later dropped out of HS due to bad unfluences, and I think Titus Warmsley was their last player who went to Texas.

So this was there roster

Lester Earl- Glen Oaks: LSU and Kansas McD's AA
Kendrick Spruel- Hammond HS Southern Miss then somewhere else
Corey Powell- Glen Oaks: LSU
Tiger Womack- Glen Oaks? LSU I believe then somewhere else
Derrick Jones- Catholic HS- Miss. St
Freddie Bryant- Live Oaks HS- Old Dominion
Zach Ray- Woodlawn HS- Nicholls St
Dino Daniels- Cohen HS- Unsure of College
Edwin "Greedy" Daniels Cohen HS- Unsure of College
Roy Candly- Baker HS Oklahoma St.
Titus Warmsley- Bishop Sullivan University of Texas
Tony Cole- Glen Oaks HS Univ. of Georgia then Rhode Island
Willie Davis- Port Barre No college but was one of the greatest HS players I have ever seen

This is a great list of players and was a great team

Best I ever saw was Lou Dunbar, and I saw Procell, Parish, Mike Sanders, Edmond Lawrence, Hi-C, and Livingston.

Best I ever heard of but never saw - Harold Ray Strother.

Hands down Procell,My parents tell me stories all the time about the "Procell and Tootsie Roll Days". The man is the all time leading scorer in the nation without a 3 point line. The say that they went to big schools in Shreveport and South LA all the time and there wasnt even standing room to watch them play. He would definitely get my vote, because colleges give you a scholarship based on potential not what you do in high school. so that does not weigh in on my opinion

This thread isn't about the best high school players in South/North Carolina.
