I'm pretty sure when I sat in on the little seminar by the aflack rep, it was as if you are injured and not just ok the job.
What I was told by someone that sales the UIM coverage, is that a lot of the stuff you are paying for is extra coverage that you are already covered other places, which makes it a bad deal, if that makes sense. It would be different if you would buy just strictly "if I get hit by a dindu and I'm injured long term, it will pay for all my damages and loses" and not having to pay for threal health coverage twice that my regular health insurance already covers and what not... makes sense?

It covers bodily injury. You know what else covers bodily injury? The health insurance you already have. In fact, health insurance will kick in first and the uninsured will only kick in if your health policy doesn't cover. Ask your car insurance agent about this next time they try to tack that onto your bill. Uninsured also allegedly covers damages for personal injury but good luck getting your own insurance company to give you a substantial pain and suffering payout.
Your health insurance is not the at fault parties privilege of a reason of not being responsible for your health insurance bills. You are able to collect 100% of what your health insurance pays out. Jesus Christ you gave out some bad information.

Blame the piece of shite rich lawyers and chiropractors and the idiot judges that allow every asswipe that gets rear ended $50k, which they will only see about $8k worth since the piece of shite lawyer and doctor get the majority of it.
And these idiot judges and lawyers want to raise the limit for a non jury trial to $100k so they can make even more money off louisiana drivers.
frick them and the dip shits that think they deserve money b/c they got bumped from behind.
ALL OF THIS RIGHT HERE!!
I bumped a lady couple months back and I mean bumped. It didn't even spill my coffee in the holder that had no lid. Anyways, she is suing my insurance siting all kinds of issues like a broken wrist, sprained ankle, headaches and mental anguish from being terrified of cars now due to the accident. Problem is, I have pics of her picking up some kids, hugging some kids and walking around the playground (we moved the accident to her work so she could let kids into camp). Now I present all this to state farm and they tell me its easier to just pay out the claim than fight. WTF!!!

Stupid cops pulling people over for tinted windows when we have so many drivers with no license, license plate, or insurance

But wouldn't my short and long term work comp coverage through aflak (I think) help fill that gap?
FYI, you don't and can't purchase workers' comp coverage on yourself, and there is no short or long term WC coverage.
WC coverage is carried strictly by your employer.
I assume what you are talking about carrying is disability coverage, not workers comp.

my SIL sells auto insurance for several companies and straight up told me it's they thh states insurance commissioner is in bed with insurance companies and that for the most part uninsured motorist is a joke but a ton of people that don't understand it think they HAVE to absolutely have it although they aren't getting really any extra coverage anywhere if they have adequate health insurance...
Ask your sister in law this: Little old lady rear ends you hard at a stop light. You have a ruptured disc in your low back and a torn rotator cuff. You have 60k in surgeries and a lifetime of pain in your low back. and your shoulder is never the same again.
Little old lady has state minimum limits of 15k in insurance.
What happens next if you have no UM?

you think that's more probable than getting hit by a dipshit with no insurance then don't worry about UM. It's considerably cheaper than what you're paying for liability, but I almost kind don't want you to get the coverage at this point
well i'm not going to, just like i'm not going to get volcano insurance either.
Posted on 8/8/17 at 8:49 am to TeddyPadillac
I can't decide if I'd rather you get stuck in a volcano or get crushed by an uninsured motorist and have to undergo a three-level fusion
Toss up, really

Nowadays, the majority of companies offering health insurance do so by having extremely high deductible health insurance plans. Hell, the last plan I was on had a family deductible of approximately $7500.00. And that resets every year. That comes out of pocket before the co-pays kick in.
So even with health insurance, you could be on the hook for the first $7500.00. Then, on top of that, add lost time from work not covered under a disability policy, and on top of that, the pain and suffering portion of what you might have to deal with having a substantial injury. There's no way I waive U/M when it's so affordable, and makes up so many gaps.

Yeah my dad has been in the insurance industry for 40 plus years at this point and he laughed when I asked if UM was worth it. He said there is no way in hell he would ever not have it.

I wholeheartedly agree, Festus. It's not like you and I do this every day for a living, though.

well the likelihood of me getting in an accident with an uninsured motorists and having life long catastrophic injuries is pretty slim, and if it happens, oh well. No amount of money will make me happy, or bring me back to where i was before the accident. shite happens. i'm not paying insurance for everything bad that can happen to me. if it happens, it happens. I have good health insurance and a good employer. if this accident is beyond those two, then who gives a frick at that point, my life is basically over anyway.
