Just started listening Dan Carlin's podcast last Sunday and frick this shite is good. Already finished all four Ghost of the Ostfront podcast and am on the third Blueprint for Armageddon one. Are his Common Sense history podcast any good? What other Hardcore History ones would ya'll recommend?

Is this another jackass who says crazy shite that is so out there it catches people's attention and all of a sudden he becomes popular because of all the people who buy into his bullshite?

Ghosts on the Ostfront, Wrath of the Khans, Prophets of Doom, Death Throes of the Republic and An American Peril are all great

ETA: The latest one is awesome too. Destroyer of Worlds?

No shite started ghost of the ostfront last night for the second listen through. Dan is damn thorough in his history podcasts and delivers it in a way that really connects you to the men who fought.

I've listened to Blueprint for armageddon 2 times already and will listen to that one again after.

The passchendale thread the other night is what pushed me to go through them again.

Prophets of Doom

All his stuff is good. His common sense ones have a more liberal bent but he still makes valid points and doesn't preach at you.

ETA: Punic Nightmare is great too

Common Sense is not a history Podcast. It's political. And good

ETA: I have not listened to a single Hardcore History that I have not liked. Not one. The American Peril is great. Listen to that and then Blueprint for Armageddon and watch the puzzle pieces fall into place. Follow that up with Ghosts of the Ostfront. It's a great string of history.

The Fall of the Republic is also one I'd highly recommend. He tries to delve into the minds of Ancient Romans and how they were basically brainwashed to excel at all costs.

I'm listening to all of them sequentially. Bought the $70 package that includes the first 49. I'm on 5 of 6 in Death Throes of the Republic.

Excellent. But don't go near it if you are the least bit down. Frickin depressing.

Excellent. Absolutely outstanding!

other Hardcore History

Pickit. They are all fantastic. Prophets of Doom is weirdly fascinating.

Haven't listened to his stuff in a while but loved it when I did. Sometimes he can be a little over the top, but it's great stuff.

The one bad thing that comes from him is the number of assholes on this forum that think they're geniuses for knowing about Gavrilo Princip.

I just started listening myself. Blueprint for Armageddon was good, and I'm finishing American Peril now. I'm going to exhaust all of the free downloads before I pay, but they are more than good enough to pay for.
