Dan Patrick: NFL owners pressuring league to suspend Elliott

What began as a probe launched in 2016 by the league to determine if there was any wrongdoing on the part of Elliott as it pertains to domestic violence allegations, has slowly morphed into a year-long inquisition that has yet to reach a conclusion.
With recent accounts stating the NFL is actually looking at the total character of the Dallas Cowboys' running back as opposed to simply the dismissed criminal charges, it's beginning to look more and more as if they're winding up to make an example of him -- justifiable or not.
The Cowboys are gearing up for a run at Super Bowl 52! Don’t miss any breaking news, take a second to sign up for our FREE Cowboys newsletter!
On Thursday, Dan Patrick addressed the situation and revealed a potential bombshell that alleges it's not just the league Elliott is up against. He may also be fighting the will of several team owners who are lobbying commissioner Roger Goodell to drop the hammer on the 2016 NFL rushing leader.
"This is what's happening with Ezekiel Elliott right now, as I was told yesterday," began Patrick before laying all of his cards on the proverbial table. "There are other owners ...are saying to the commissioner, 'hey, you punished us [so] make sure you punish the Cowboys here'. That's sort of what's going on behind the scenes."
Patrick went on to ponder just why Elliott is up against a potential suspension at all for allegations that occurred prior to him becoming an NFL player. He cites Washington Redskins' wide receiver Terrell Pryor, who was suspended for actions that occurred in college -- because his agent stepped in and negotiated with Goodell versus Pryor letting the NFLPA go to bat for him.
"That's the key," said Patrick. "If Ezekiel Elliott's agent is going to say to the commissioner, 'hey, one game and we're done with this', then that's probably what's going to happen. The Player's Association wants to argue and say 'hey, he shouldn't be suspended at all, he wasn't even an employee of the league and you're suspending him'".

What were the facts of that domestic case again?

hey, you punished us [so] make sure you punish the Cowboys here'

He has had 9 different small things.
Visiting the Weed shop / "maybe" punching this guy in Dallas Sunday / his domestic dispute/ St Paddy's day , etc.
Maybe all of them individually arent much but put 9 small things together shows the dude is out of control.
And we know Jones wont do anything at all..........even if he shot someone on the field on national tv.

So we are now going to suspend him over a handful of harmless things that suggest that he may not make the best decisions but ultimately has done nothing to warrant a suspension?
I would have a complete change in my opinion if something comes of this fight or of the domestic abuse case. But until then, there is no way you can convince me he's done anything warranting a suspension. Let alone one handed down from the league

And how many of those things are against the law or are awaiting trial?

Well the Saints got the hammer for nothing. Goodell just wanted to come up with something he could use as an action regarding concussions.
So I really don't care if Dallas is negatively affected by this.

Boy they stay telling on themselves!

fricking trash. I 100% believe there is some sort of collusion against Kaep. It may not be direct, but all actions, based off this this spring and this tidbit; suggest so

That strongsafety character is a known "play the race card" at every turn "democrat". That's all you need to know about it to figure out what it's yapping about.

Guy shouldn't have been trespassing. Justified in Texas.

Dismissed after the accuser's text messages revealed a coordinated plot to defame Elliott.

I'm confused by the part of the story saying Terrell Pryor got in trouble because his agent went and negotiated with goodell. It sounds like they decided to punish him for sending his agent rather than whatever action got him in trouble in the first place.that just feels like he got set up to get in trouble

This new owners vs. old owners idiotic way of using the commissioner to get at each other is annoying as all hell.
