Dude just lmoce to the Lake Charles area. If you don't you're going to hate your life on the commute home when you hit the horrible traffic every single day

If you're gonna do the commute, slow down on the interstate in Rayne and Jennings. Cops are unusually out there every morning.

Your nice job offer will be offset by the financial and emotional cost of that commute. Don't do it.

I know this sounds stupid, but speaking from experience here a long or stressful commute can affect your mood big time.

I'm quitting a great job right now because it had me commuting from Baton Rouge to New Orleans: 150-miles round trip. The drive from BR to Kenner was about an hour. Then 30-40 minutes to downtown NOLA. Same thing headed home. I'd get to work aggravated and get home aggravated. It was affecting my mood at all times and I felt like I was inadvertently taking it out on my wife.

Not to mention I was coming from a 30 minute (one-way commute) so I was spending at least 10 extra hours per week commuting. That's a lot of family time I was missing out on.

Used to do this and convinced myself it wasn't that bad. Now It takes me 10 minutes max to get to work. I would kill myself if I had to go back to 40-50 minute commutes
Same. I tried the hour commute for three months. Never again.

As mentioned, how close to I-10 do you live? It is less than an hour from Scott to LC. But if you live on the Southside, you could add another 30 minutes to your drive.

What is a typical Baton Rouge residents trip time driving in that town?

I don't know about that.

If you think crossing the basin and the new bridge everyday is a better commute than driving Laffy to LC everyday, then there is only one word to describe you--STUPID.

More scenic? Maybe. But frick scenery when any given day that has a good chance of turning into a 2 hr trip one-way.

Add in at least another hour or more to the round-trip commute, if you're going to be in the lines of traffic going into one of the plants. That's a major consideration.

Doing a 160 mile round trip commute 5 days a week is asinine. Move there but visit Lafayette

Not a plant job. Married with two kids. Money is nearly double what I make plus less weekends my a considerable margin. Wife really wants to live in Lafayette and not lc. Have two kids. Would the fact that I live in Shreveport now change yalls opinion?

They are only an hour apart, but both very different. Not that's there's anything wrong with either

I commuted 3 years BR to Lafayette. Miserable, and I'll never do it again. Doesn't matter the money.

I used to do it. Just move to LC it's not that bad. Visit Laffy on the weekends.

Better tyan commuting Laffy to BR thats for damn sure

I go between br and Lafayette a couple of times a week and lc and Lafayette a couple of times a week.

The drive to br is way more unpredictable. 1 wreck fricks the whole thing up for everyone. Now there's construction between lafayette and the basin as well
