If you're doing Lafayette to LC in 50 minutes you're going to rack up speeding tickets doing that 5 days a week

I lived in LC for about 2 years way back in 02. I really did not find the place to be that bad at all. It's gotten better since my time.

Use the raise (gas $ savings) to buy a boat and you'll love LC

Lake Charles is a great place to live with a young family. Live in south LC. Send kids to Queen of Heaven or ICCS. If you are a golfer the country club has an awesome membership. Hang out there and you will get to know some really good people.

Not a plant job. Married with two kids. Money is nearly double what I make plus less weekends my a considerable margin. Wife really wants to live in Lafayette and not lc.

If you are married with young kids you will love LC. There's plenty for young families.

If the money is good and you have weekends off with this new job, spend a weekend in Lafayette every so often. Do not try to drive it every day or you will hate your life.

You are moving to an area that has a lower cost of living and double the pay? That sounds like a great job.

Uh...yeah? I don't understand. Give us details on why your wife wants to move to a town that's marginally better than the one you will be working in, and add over 2 hours of commuting per day, 10 per week. Lafayette is not NYC or some amazing place that would justify opting to move there and work an hour away. If she has family there, you can still visit them easily if you live in LC.

Just move to South LC or the Garden District. Send your kids to private school.

Tell your wife quit being snobish and selfish. Chicks love to say they live in lafayette. Like it's a big deal.

yea I dont get it. ALl things considered is Lafayette an overall better town then LC, yes, but not by much anymore. Traffic is bad in LC but nothing compared to Lafayette, baton rouge or new orleans.

outdoors is as good or better in LC, South LC stacks up against anything lafayette can offer, St Louis is just as good a private school as any in Lafayette and Barbe is as good as any private school.

Unless its for family reasons I do not get it at all. A few more restraunts? LC has plenty but shite if you just want that, drive to laffy on a saturday night. Laffy is closer to NOLA and BR, but LC is closer to Houston and an easy drive to br and nola too. Plus with the casinos there is a lot better upscale night life in LC imo.

yeah there is still a "culture" gap but it's not nearly what it was even 5 years ago and LC is exploding right now (while Laffy is stagnant and may crack/crumble if oil stays low). i can't imagine how deranged somebody would have to be to demand to live in Lafayette over LC when a daily drive to work would be required

Good deal! I dabbled in a couple of sports back then. Football and track.

I've made the drive from LC to Laffy about once a week for the past 10 years. I've never done it in 50 minutes

With little traffic it's not that hard. I normally make that time going west. On I-10 at Evangeline Throughway, set cruise to 80, and I'm exiting downtown LC in under an hour. It's only 75 miles.
