I live in the country.
Lots of country dogs on my private road.
M-F usps lady loves dogs.
She keeps bags of dog treats to hand out to dogs.
Saturday usps lady is afraid to death of dogs.
Guess how many Saturday packages I get?

I'll be honest, aside from Amazon Video (app on my TV) I couldn't give a frick about Amazon. I order some stuff off of Amazon but in general I order stuff from all over the place. Amazon is just one of many.
I don't get this Amazon obsession/dependency. It's odd to me.

I'd heard rumors about USPS fricking up Prime, and today it happened to me. Not cool.
Amazon pretended like my package would get here today by 8pm. But here we are at almost 9pm, and I have no faith that a government employee is still laboring away.
When I checked on USPS's website, it said something like a delivery "was attempted" but "recipient wasn't available for delivery."
Now this was irritating, but I was upset with USPS, especially because it was a lie. Obviously you can put blame on Amazon since they contract with USPS, but I don't think that very fair since there are limited options for delivery.
I've heard rumors that Amazon going to eventually provide deliveries in-house. I don't know how valid those rumors are, but it seems like a logical progression for the company, especially if the other services are harming their reputation.

USPS fricked me on prime a few weeks ago. I ordered cat litter from Amazon like I always do. Instead of having it delivered, I get one of those orange slips which has the tracking number and says "heavy". They wanted me to go to the post office and stand in line to pick up a 20lb box of cat litter.
Chatted with Amazon customer service and they sent me another one.

I've had several occasions lately that I ordered an item that should be there a couple Days later and it didn't get shipped out until a couple days later.
They've actually given me like 3 months of free prime due to it after a few emails.

I had something delivered on time yesterday, but in the past when I've had problems it's usually been because of the USPS.

Amazon had my package out for delivery. The Mailman passed my house 10 lines later Amazon updated as delayed for weather. Told the wife I bet that dude had our packages in his little truck. She called the post office and they said we had a dog in our front yard so he passed. Funny day.

This is standard USPS practice. They will put delivery notices out the day items were promised then deliver the package the next day. Every single time I have gotten a prime package from the USPS it has been late and every single time I complain. If you're going to guarantee delivery you shouldn't rely on the .gov to get it done.

I'm convinced hating on USPS is the cool thing to do and everyone piles on.
I order a shite ton of stuff and prefer to have my packages delivered by the post office.

I was about to say the same, exact thing when I saw your post pop up. It's like the strange people that go out of their way to make fun of Bing. Who gives a frick what web search engine you use? Or Chrome vs. Firefox? At some point, it becomes cool to hate on something.
USPS has been much better than FedEx and UPS for me at my current location. Unfortunately, as you expect, the person completing the last leg accounts for the majority of the problems. If that person sucks ... you will assume that service sucks... whichever company it may be. I've personally found USPS to be the best value BY FAR for shipping out packages that are not time sensitive (without company discounts or incentives).

USPS is by far the worst option and I think Amazon just uses them as a last resort. Tip: if you ever need to return something and they want to charge you just select the "arrived late" option and you can send it back for free.

It depends on where you live I guess. Sometimes my packages get switched over to USPS.

U always get screwed when UPS or FedEx passes off to USPS for delivery. The postal service is pretty worthless at this point.
That is usually when you do get screwed, but it usually isn't USPS' fault.
Most of the time, the UPS or FedEx truck that is bringing those packages for the day is running late. If those trucks get to your local post office after the USPS route carriers have left, then your package is going out the following day.

USPS is the main contract holder for Amazon deliveries. So they aren't a last resort.
USPS has hired employees to just work on Sundays to deliver only Amazon packages.

I much prefer USPS because they come much earlier in the day, not 8 PM like shitty UPS.
I believe that has more to do with where you are on their route. At my current home I receive my mail around 10:30ish. At my last home it was always much later in the afternoon.

Oddly enough, my recent bad experiences have been with UPS and FedEx. No complaints with USPS.
I ship close to 50 packages per week by USPS. Mostly Priority mail. I have had very very few issues considering the amount of packages I have sent with them.
I ship 1 per week UPS. I have had more issues with that 1 package than all the USPS

I've had more problems with FedEx than USPS.
With inclement weather fronts, FedEx to LA is stalled in MS for 2 days before delivery.

All of our experiences are not like for like. It depends on what particular USPS office your mail is coming from, and your local UPS center, driver, etc.
The last two orders I made on Amazon just flat out didn't get to me. Both USPS. And one of them says "delivered". So the fricking retarded Geismar post office either delivered to the wrong address and that person just threw it away, or somebody kept it. Either way, somebody is lying. The order before that was lost in transit.
Everything that I order with UPS gets to me seamlessly.

my story
Sent a registered letter.
It got lost, tracking showed it up to a certain location.
Did the online search thing
realize "Hey,my sister works for them 3 states over,I'll ask her"
Her boss found it within a day
forgot about the online search, two months later they comeback and say,"Sorry, we never could find your letter."
