A good friend of mine up here and I had a deep arse convo on the fourth about this. He was saying we need to just blow it all up and I just responded by saying we're only a few games out, if we get in anything can happen.

If Texas got in, won the wild card game and then played Houston I don't care what any poster on here says, every single Houston poster would be shitting their pants.

Texas would have nothing to lose, Houston would have all the pressure they already would have had, but now add on the fact they have to beat a team that's historically owned them aside from the series so far this season (Houston leads, 7-3).

If there were an Astro meltdown, you may have to just shut down the board.

1) I expect this to happen.

2). When it does I will break lots of things.

3). After I'm tired of breaking things, I'm taking a dump on the hood of my neighbor's Range Rover that has both a Cubs sticker and a Rangers sticker on his back window.

4). I will stay off TD for a loooooong time because the melt will be nuclear in magnitude.

(I may, or may not actually do these things)

agreed

With a healthy Yu and Cole the Rangers can absolutely compete with anyone in the post season

also, what if Carlos gomez were to hit a walk off homerun to end the series

That would entice me to go to Houston.......that's where my love of the Dodgers started.....in the Astrodome when Garvey, lopes, Russell, cey, Baker, Monday, Smith and yeager used to thrash the lastros on a regular basis.

Historically doesn't really matter because it's a different team. It isn't like they've even been an AL team long. The Rangers have a losing record and are in a logjam to make the wildcard. They aren't scary to anyone at this point.

Do they even have anything to buy with? In BA mid season top 100 they only have 1 prospect. At this point Jon Daniels is having to live off players that the luhnow and hinch llc cuts or doesn't protect on the 40 man.Sad!

Well we did finally get Gomez back after he missed a month and he's been stellar for us compared to our backup OF's this year. Hamels is back along w/ Cashner and Ross. We've blown like a major league high 16 saves and while we haven't added any big names, those disasters have slowed down exponentially as of late.

Beltre missed like two months and Odor has begun his climb offensively after his horrid start.

I'm not saying they are going to win shite, but to say the team isn't there to compete w/ anyone out there is dumb.

This is exactly why I didn't want to face the Blue Jays in the playoffs last year as this is exactly what happened

Blue Jays came in with no pressure and all the motivation after the brawl in May. Any other 1st round opponent the Rangers are playing the Cubs in the World Series

Fivethirtyeight has the Rangers as the favorite to win the 2nd wild card right now and so do offshore betting odds

The amazing thing for the Astros is the quality of pitching they have gotten with Keuchel on the DL. McCullers, Fiers, and Morton all have an ERA well below 4.00. Without those guys being that effective, they are the Orioles right now: great offense without a lick of pitching.

But the division race is beyond over. If the Astros stumbled down the stretch at 35-38 (which they won't), they would win 95 games. The Angels would have to go 50-20 just to tie that record. The Rangers would have to go 52-22.

I think the division lead will be 22 on Aug 31.

Not exactly clinched, but all but wrapped up.
