A statue of the Heineken man should replace Lee's statue. He represents New Orleans today and they need to honor their culture.

Too bad I cannot down vote you enough...

I was in the city during Katrina... It was a fricking really bad storm... It's only the governments fault because they built shite for levees...

It was not about NOLA but about Slidell.

Slidell was taking over Mandeville on everthing it had to offer. Slidell was the king of La. Mandeville leaders gathered up with the US Gov and created a super storm to take out the area causing Slidell to plumit. Mandeville then took off like a rocket into the top spot of La.

Damn you Mandeville

The reason people say this is because it DID happen in the past (1927). But no...it did not happen this time.

One of the real myths about Katrina was that it only flooded poor black areas. My white butt got 9 feet of water, and oil, in St. Bernard.

I have to correct so many people with this. They mean well....just do not know any better. Hope things have gotten better...I still have only been back to St. Bernard about 2 or 3 times. Hurts to go back.

Mandeville pre Katrina was way better than post Katrina.

Great plan! Lets blow the levees up, flood the whole city, THEN HAVE TO SPEND OUR OWN MONEY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. Makes perfect sense. I thought everyone knew that Bush created Katrina?

To a portion of our population it is always someone else's fault so they can claim discrimination.

Problem with this is it ACTUALLY WORKS!!

I've heard people claim the August flood was done by the government using droids to manipulate the clouds to rain that much....

People are fricking nuts

And apparently the flood in August was a setup too even though it was a lot of rich white folks who got flooded in Ascension and Livingston

That was so the white people could claim it on insurance and get richer.

Many of the levees were designed so poorly, they didn't need to bother blowing them up. The failure was inevitable with the surge Katrina brought.

The MRGO funneling surge into the SE part of the city made the failures that much worse for NO East, the 9th ward, and St. Bernard.

This.
It's amazing that they thought allowing canals to flow a mile or more into the city from the lake with half arse walls along the canal was a good idea. Not to mention the shoddy construction and maintenance.

As far as the BS of the government blowing up the levees, you really only hand a handful of people who really thought this. It was mainly the one loud arse loon and for some reason Bill Jefferson gave her a nation stage to spread her silliness. And of course Spike Lee had to run with it to so a few more were probably convinced because of his stupid arse.
