Andre Roberson just signed a 3 year, $30 million dollar contract. He's better than Solo defensively, but he's much worse offensively. He makes $10 mil/year, Solo makes $12 mil/year. Maybe Dell overpaid by a couple million, but some of you guys who throw him in with Asik when talking about awful contracts are just plain wrong.

So because OKC gave out a bad contract, it was cool for Dell to do the same? Knowing what you know now, would you still give Hill 12 mil? 10mil?

More bad contracts don't somehow make our decisions any better.

So because WB504 says it's a bad contract it's automatically a bad contract? 3 and D wings get a lot of money. Kent Bazemore makes $16 mil/year (Thats a bad contract), Demarre Carrol makes $14 mil/year - he's barely better than Solo. Hell I'll throw in Iggy (who's starting to lose athleticism) is making $16 per. Hill is probably an MLE level player, I'd pay him 8-10 mil. He got 12. It's not that bad.

Point is - take 4 mil away from Solo and we're still in the same spot as we are right now. Over the cap with the MLE and BAE left.

His contract is widely considered bad or at the least a negative asset, but hey believe what you want.

And yet teams continue to give similar players similar money. You're using generalizations like "widely considered" to try to make your point. I've looked at the market for similar players and have proof that he gets paid similarly. It may be a little high but it isn't asik level bad like some of you make it out to be. You've also never given a number that you think he's worth, you just keep saying "bad".

You sound like one of those guys that doesn't watch any games, just looks at the box score and says "7 points?! and we're paying this guy $12 million?!"

bird/indy declined a 2.3million dollar option for Solomon Hill.

We gave him 6x that much, ANNUALLY.

In terms of bad contracts, I'd argue its worse than Asik's. Asik with a coach that utilizes bigs would still have a role. he also has played well in his career as a defensive anchor, just don't ask him for anything else.

Hill plays average defense and nil offensively.

Not Cooper dont try to reason with Pelicans talk. They dont know enough about nba basketball.

They dont realize that 10 million a year is not a large basketball contract. They think thats allstar money haha.

How 10 millions a year for Roberson is a bad deal???
He is elite defender. And this qualifies him for 10m. When he will work on his shot to average level this will be bargain.

He is young. And is long -term controlled.
I am shocked. Best case for me was 4/50.

The value is a number, 10mil is only 10% of the salary cap, that means nothing.

The issue is his value on the open market. The team who had his player option for 2mil declined it. He wasn't even considered worth being on the team or an asset for that much to them. We then turn and give him 6x that amount when nobody else was even close to doing it.

He is the 18th highest paid SF in the league @ 12mil annually while being the 24th in RPM, its not great value, its barely even good value.

That was widely looked upon as a dumb move.

Solo is probably an MLE type player, so he's getting overpaid by a few mil, but he's not a terrible player.

Asik is getting overpaid by 12 mil.

Hill is still overpaid, but I'm optimistic that he improves. When he was attacking towards the end of the season, the offense looked so much better. He's 26, he can still improve and I believe his shooting will especially improve greatly.

There was a billion dollars in cap space spread across the NBA last offseason. There is a third of that this offseason.

Comparing Hill to 1 other bad contract is dumb, but in 2 more years everybody should be on a new cap contract. I don't think he ever gets good enough to live up to his contract, but I do think in a year or 2 he can improve to the point that it's tradeable in part because there will be more comparable wings with worse and/or longer deals than Hill. They also are expecting cap space to become more of a premium so if you want to add a player to your team you might find as much talent on the trade market as on the FA market.

6'8" guys that shoot 38% don't belong in the NBA much less make $12mil a year. He isn't even that good of a defender
