Atlanta & Houston should be over Golden State then.

If Atlanta didn't have such god awful fan support and general interest in their own city, then sure. Atlanta is the worst big market sports city in the country. Too many transplants and too many college fans.

On top of this just being moronic, it would be boring as frick after the novelty wore off.

I dont think he is saying that Giannis isnt good enough to make one of the 8 teams, however, he's saying that people like Giannis, or IT, frick maybe Kawhi wouldnt be found out or able to reach potential if the sample size of the league was shrunken down

Sure they should but that's not practical or realistic enough of a template to even mention out loud.

I googled him and every result is a golden nugget thread or a frogsrangers (GN's account as well) thread on SBR

This is literally a terrible idea through and through. It will never happen, and for good reason too.

Make it 24 teams and have relegation for the others

I disagree. I think the NBA should:
A. move to a stricter salary cap to break up the superstar laden squads
B. get better at enforcing fouls and traveling with some sort of equity,
C. expand to 32 teams
D. reduce the number of playoff teams from 16 to 12.
They should also consider realignment where the divisions are still based on geography, but maybe the conferences are not.
One possible alignment:
West
Milwaukee
Chicago
Minnesota
St. Louis (Expansion Team)
Portland
Denver
Phoenix
Utah
LA Clippers
LA Lakers
Sacramento
Golden State
Houston
Dallas
San Antonio
Oklahoma City
East
Cleveland
Indiana
Detroit
Toronto
New Orleans
Memphis
Atlanta
Nashville (Expansion Team)
Boston
New York
Brooklyn
Philadelphia
Orlando
Miami
Charlotte
Washington
Another way:
West
Portland
Seattle/Vancouver (Expansion Team)
Sacramento
Golden State
Phoenix
LA Clippers
LA Lakers
Las Vegas (Expansion Team)
Denver
Utah
San Antonio
Oklahoma City
New Orleans
Memphis
Dallas
Houston

Detroit

On Scenario 2 I'd swap Memphis and San Antonio. Memphis is further north. And it keeps all the TX teams together.

The league would be fine if they contracted to 24 not 8. That's 90 players spread out among 24 teams.
Posted on 7/7/17 at 10:54 pm to JabarkusRussell
Will say this... If the entire league was played in a TV studio, 8 teams would be fine.
Football with so few games could get away with a 6 or 8 team league.
However, any other sport needs more teams, bc fans get tired of seeing the same ones... The NHL sucked until it went from 6 to 12 in the tos. Japanese baseball with two 6 team leagues now has interleague play, so that isn't as boring as it used to be

If you have only eight teams, then each team could be a super team. And when every one is a super team, no one is.
