The first game of each regular season has grown into one of the NFL's marquee events. Looking ahead to 2019 and the 100th anniversary of the league, the NFL may hold its season opener in China, according to Daniel Kaplan of the SportsBusiness Journal.
It was reported in December that the NFL was considering holding a 2018 regular-season game in China. Those plans have been postponed in favor of the 2019 opener, Kaplan reports.
"It may make better sense to look at that game as an opportunity to celebrate our 100 years, in the event we can pull it off and as a way to look forward to the future," said Mark Waller, the NFL's executive vice president of international.

This pisses me off. Every year I become less and less interested in the NFL.

Will there be a dome or will all the smog play a factor?

It's still a dumb idea, but China would paaaaack a stadium for that. They love American stuff.

I guess it's only fair since they make all the jerseys and apparel.

Out of all the things to be mad at the NFL at... this is an incredible nonissue.
Why shouldn't they be looking to expand their brand? Isn't that the point of a company? I'm pretty sure they're not gonna expand in the states anymore.
But OMG ROGER SUCKS frick THE NFL RAWR RAWR RAWR
ETA: I still hate roger

So one lucky team and their fan base will get screwed out of a home game

What a fantastic way to signify the significance in history of the NFL. By playing the game in freaking China

Hilarious. I wonder if they will run one of those dumbass Chris Carter crying commercials while they are over there.

Home fans who lose the home game get the shaft. they still pay the same rate for season tickets with 1 less home game. (At least this is what the Rams did)

I think it's the fact they are pushing all these social issues, only to go play for money at one of the most non-progressive places in the world.

Nice, threaten to not play games in Texas because of trans bathroom bill but immediately make plans to play in China and Mexico city...NOTHING hypocritical about that

I'm all for it, as long as they make the most financially viable franchises lose a home game. Cowboys vs. Patriots.
But you know how it goes with these international games. Buccaneers vs. Browns, in Beijing. Here we go!

Will be cool until two or three players are detained under allegations of being spies for the US government.

Same here. In fact, I watched only two regular season games last year.
Goodell has completely ruined the league.
