I'll take survival. Full recovery is probably not an option at this point

Good grief, and good night. So many talking points in one post.

Sorry I overwhelmed you ability to comprehend.

I didn't even scratch the surface if I thought it would help you understand the world you live in.

I said buh-bye. You were supposed to go away.

As far as hurling insults go you should try discussing on a gentlemanly level instead of being so ignorantly combative.

You may actually see there is another side of an issue.

The criminal was an unemployed home inspector who went to Alexandria and lived in a van for months. How did he pay for gas, food etc.?

Where did he shower and relieve himself? Why did he hang out at the YMCA but just sat there on his laptop? Did they have free WIFI? How did he learn that the congressmen were using this facility for practice?

I simply do not understand our country's sick gun culture. Going to bed and praying for Congressman Scalise, who did not deserve this. The reports are very concerning. We have a big problem, folks. I support your right to play soldier. Really, I do. Can we discuss reasonable measures to stop the daily carnage? Is this really what we want, or at least are willing to accept?

The second protects the first. With the first and second, all of the rest are possible. I pity you for your lack of understanding of world history.

I suggested discussion of reasonable gun control measures. In an effort to slow the carnage. OK, but I'm willing to be educated. I admit I'm not inclined to give credence to Soros and Obama boogeymen. But maybe you can explain to me why you need an arsenal, and, what exactly (be specific) you believe you need protection from? My interest is not in discussing handguns, or hunting rifles. Explain to me why civilian ownership of semi-automatic, military style rifles, and the right to openly carry such rifles, is a good and necessary thing?

Exactly. Plenty of things that need to be investigated. I'm expecting to find out that he had some help.

Because criminals will always find ways to get them.

What exactly does this phrase mean to you? Are you not aware that semi-automatic is just a description of how the rifle functions? What about this scares you so much?

Rapidity of fire, and amount of deliverable fire in a short time span. What is it about "military-style rifle" that you don't get?

The reasons that we are an independent and free nation today are 1) the armed militia fighting guerilla tactics in the Revolutionary War; and 2) the French Navy being in the right place at the right time on one (and only one) occasion. Every other explanation is dross.

Because you just never know...

We never thought 9/11 would happen. The bombing in Boston, crazy people like this that shot Scalise etc... I'd rather be prepared than for the world to know that Americans are by in large under armed if they bring a fight to our soil.

One major issue with these kinds of ideas is that
quote:

Semi-automatic, military style rifles
are functionally exactly the same as many
quote:

hunting rifles

If you've ever shot a shotgun it is quite likely that you shot a gun with a mechanism more similar than not to the gun used in this shooting in the details of its function, and exactly the same in the basic principles.

What you are then outlawing is things like certain types of grips or stocks.

It's very simple: militaries, dictators, and governments have killed more civilians than civilians could ever dream of killing each other. The main way to prevent that from happening, is an armed civilian populace.

Do you not know how much the left would want control if not for gun control? They want to turn us into socialists.

Agreed. That's the way it always is in the shooting threads. Any gap in the action is filled with gun nuts vs gun haters.

Well that's not good news, but at least he made it through the night. Doctors can do some amazing things, but the human body's will to stay alive is amazing
