What is it about a hunting rifle with a weather proof plastic stock, one I can buy with wood also is considered a military-style rifle"?

At one time or another every style of rifle we have was a "military-style rifle".

What service did you retire from?
I'm guessing Air Force. My Air Force retiree friends and family know old jackshit about small arms.

Now I have a question for Jeff and all others that ran out to blame lack of gun laws for this shooting.

Let me set this up. Steve Scalise is a prominent Republican legislator in the House.

Legislators (Republican) are to blame for lack of more gun laws.

Therefore it stands to reason that Steve Scalise and his counterparts are responsible for this shooting in the eyes of the liberals. Why else would it be brought up if the left did not think guns were to blame?

My question is why did Jeff and others basically give Steve a slap in the face while he is fighting for his life by hurrying out to put the blame ... on Steve?

Party of compassion my fukkin asss!!!

Dumb.

I'm praying for Steve's recovery.

If we wait "a sufficient time" after shooting incidents before discussing reasonable gun control, we'll never have the discussion. Because by the time you deem it good form to have the discussion, the next incident occurs. Then the clock starts all over apparently. It's really a crock of shite.

100% of the shooter yesterday was a legal gun owner.

how do we prevent nut jobs like Hodgkinson from owning a gun in the first place?
Do we know if he obtained them legally? Was it legal for him to have them in that area?

There are common threads between mass shootings and, more importantly, the 93 (million!??!) per day that are killed.

Mass shootings: craizies, most identified by friends and family before hand. What should be done/legislated about them? Any other common threads about them?

93 per day: Oh so much in common! The biggie IMO is drugs. Since the bad guys already have guns and don't give a ratzass about your laws you will have to find other ways to fix this. More gun laws for them to break is not the answer. Why are you bringing up big bad "military-style weapons" anyway? Check out the 93 per day. Mostly handguns ILLEGALLY OBTAINED.

That's what pisses us off the most. WE are regulated while guns and drugs are not, .. at least not where they are. And the cops hands are being tied more every day.

I get it that you, TigerJeff do not understand us. What is your hobby? Put it out here for us to insult and fail to understand. I have a 100 yd. range located 20 yards from my back door. I shoot one or more of my guns there almost everyday that the weather allows. It's my hobby.

But only 2/3s of them used them legally...

Nice try....

I can legally purchase a car as well, but I'm not supposed to plow through a pedestrian mall with it...

I'm unsure who you guys are praying or praying at all. Your side of the isle has taken God out of everything. Even away from the DNC convention.

You know what it says in my bible about denying God?

That's a different subject though.

There were many good points made to answer your concerns that you wrote back on page 43 (I think).

You need to address the explanations about military style weapons vs hunting weapons.

This may have been posted, but there was a discussion of what "critical condition" means and what the injuries are. Cassidy discusses that her in the first part of the video. There are other discussions, as well.

This woman, Donna Potter, is no better than the shooter. I simply can't understand this way of thinking, no matter your political party. It's inhumane.

Not so! That is a gun free zone, the only reason more of the guys out there did not have theirs with them.

If they would have been allowed to carry concealed that bastard would have gotten off 1, maybe 2 rounds before being riddled.

They had time because he fired one shot before taking time to cross the fence.

Agreed. That's the way it always is in the shooting threads. Any gap in the action is filled with gun nuts vs gun haters.

True, the debate should be quite simple actually.

The 2nd allows for persons to possess firearms; it doesn't qualify by type. Laws have been put into place relative to purchase of firearms with little effect on shootings. Shootings, excepting accidental or suicide, are done by criminals and thugs. Outlawing criminals or further restrictions on guns will not change the result.

At least that is about as far as I've seen any intellectual arguments stall. You either support the constitution or you want to undermine it...simple?

We should be talking about the legislators (D) that have know since Jan. that Trump was not under investigation. Comey has blood on his hands.

These people purposefully keep people riled up to obstruct. Some of them are looney and go over the edge. Over what? A lie.

Instead what do they do? On the day of the shooting the headlines on some papers was the new obstruction of justice investigation. It's all bullshite but I personally know people that are salivating because they got him now. They just got their bubble busted by the testimonies yet again but they are all riled up again. All over another lie.

TigerJeff, watch your looney friends for signs indicating they are about to do something stupid.

Aisle.

My Bible doesn't regale with stories of a gun-wielding Jesus.

"Callous." Well, the tone in these posts seems to accept as business as usual the frequent mass shootings with a shrug.

Callous just the same.

You want to start a conversation? You pick right after a shooting to bring it up? How's that going for you?

Now let's get back to the guns you hate. We explained hunting vs so called military style. You appear to not want to address this. Do you really think we will have a discussion on gun control when your side of the "isle" ( I had a frontal lobotomy, remember?) when you/they know nothing about guns?

Refresher: I can convert mine from one to the other in minutes. What legislation do you propose?

You spoke of handgun violence. No legislation is going to get guns out of the hands of people dealing drugs. What legislation do you propose?

I don't understand why this is even a gun topic. The guy only shot 4 people, we are lucky he went full retard quite frankly. Its not very difficult to kill more than that with a single shot pistol in the right circumstance. The type of weapon had absolutely nothing to do with any of this.

Is there any new news on Scalise's health situation?
