Houston has 66% of all Cargo Container Volume--New Orleans now at 14%

https://www.philly.com/philly/business/Philadelphia-port-sees-growth-in-cargo-imports-arriving-in-containers-.html

“Generally speaking, the East Coast ports did best, with Savannah reporting 19.4 percent growth compared to a year earlier and Norfolk up 14.6 percent” in April, the report said. “The main losers were the Puget Sound ports of Seattle and Tacoma,” whose cargo volumes fell 1 percent, and New Orleans, which shrank by 21.3 percent.

Louisiana has allowed Houston to come in and absolutely decimate the Port Business. Houston invested in their infrastructure while New Orleans/Louisiana didn't invest a nickle in ours and the price we pay is a huge drop in our commerce.

New Orleans is now the #19 largest Port Post-Panama Canal while Houston is now the #8 largest.

Now that the statues are gone we will see business flooding back in.

No surprise here. Our state is a complete disaster.

New orleans has food and mardi gras though so that has to move it up the list.

You don't think the extra time and hassle of navigating the MS River and the riverboat pilot monopoly has anything to do with this?

Has containerized cargo ever really been the port of New Orleans' bread and butter?

The port is the invisible hand for NO. This will not bode well.

The best and brightest container ships will be returning very soon now. It's all part of Mitch's masterbate, I mean, master plan.

Little girls in New Orleans can now grow up without living in fear of cargo containers.

Container ships filled with imports will always prefer Houston to NOLA.

Population between Houston, San Antonio and Austin is just far greater than NOLA, BR and Biloxi.

Did the river get more difficult to navigate recently? Did the riverboat pilot mob just show up?

Good. Less container trucks on the road the less wear and tear on the roads.
